On the Dolphins: This is the best defensive unit that we will play the entire season. They easily got five pro-bowl players over there, and they will always have five or six pro-bowl players over there, and they will continue to have five or six pro-bowler players there. This is a great test for us to see how we match-up against them, and today we didn’t match up well.

:D :D :D

Rod Smith is a classy Veteran ad it's awsome that he gave us credit for the win!

holy **** that means alot comin from rod...i sure hope he is right and if our D continues to play this way we are gonna be in position to win alot of games

Our D should carry us to at least 8-9 wins by themselves. If Gus plays at least as well as today it should be a fun season.

Wow.....That means a lot coming from Rod Smith. I can't wait until next Sunday already.

I've been saying that since the preseason. The defense is gonna be strong this year. We've known for a while the talent was there, it was just underutilized. :)

Rod Smith was the only one on the denver side that was actually giving our defense a challange...so its great to hear that from him...

I was never truly worried about the defense. We have obviously gotten better witht he addition of guys like Carter and Schulters, and even Howard seems to be stepping up since midway through the preseason.

Rod got knocked around plenty of times today. Zach almost took his head off on his first reception and Tebucky Jones walloped him pretty good on a catch as well. He actually took a breather after the Jones hit.

Technically, this is the best offense they have faced all year too...so far. :p However, given the fact that six of their games come against Oakland, KC, and SD, I wouldn't doubt if we are on of the top defensive units they play this year.

Beautiful. Love the quotes from the players. Good one from Tatum Bell too..

On the Dolphins defense: We weren’t surprised at all, we knew what they were going to throw at us on defense. We just didn’t match their intensity through all four quarters. We might have had a series here where we played decent and looked like we were capable of making some nice plays and scoring, but than the rest of the game we didn’t execute like we should have.

From Jake Plummer...

About the defense) “They played well. I think they caught us a couple of times in the right coverages. We didn’t make the plays when we needed to. There were opportunities out there and I missed a couple. There are other guys on the team that will tell you they missed a couple and that’s the game. When you come to a place like this on the road, you need to make those plays, and we didn’t. We’ve been making them in the pre season and we know that we make them in practice, we just need to find a way to make them on the field.â€Â

From Al Wilson

“The Dolphins played well on both sides of the ball. This doesn’t change our approach for San Diego, but it makes it a must-win.â€Â

From Trevor Pryce

“We could have played a lot better, but hats off to (the Dolphins). When the quarterback throws into double coverage and his guymakes a play, there’s not much planning you can do against that.â€Â

So who are the 5 pro bowlers he was talking about though?

Jason Taylor (obvious)

Zach Thomas (obvious)

Sam Madison (likely)

Kevin Carter (likely)

Lance Schulters? Tebucky Jones? Junior Seau? Keith Traylor? Vonnie Holliday? Channing Crowder? Reggie Howard?

Probably Junior Seau, but IMO Keith Traylor played like a pro bowler too.

I assume he meant Seau, Thomas, Madison, Taylor and Carter. It also sounds like he sees the potential in Crowder, Daniels and co. as well by his quote.

Ive been saying it too about our D but its always nice to hear it from a probable HOFER like Smith who's faced a lot of good D's in his career. ;)
