Caleb Sturgis Probably cost us the season

Now that the Ravens kicker just saved Baltimore's season, I'm reminded how Sturgis missed a shorter kick against Baltimore that triggered a really bad stretch after that which likely cost us the Buffalo game too.

obviously, what Baltimore's kicker did was freakin' amazing, but the contrast between this kid for the Ravens and our guy is just really caustic and abrasive. The effect it had on our two seasons is now very different and sad.

Once again, our backs are against the wall, with backup cornerbacks trying to stave off oblivion.

You're kidding yourself if you think Baltimore is losing another game this reg season. They will Beat Down the Patriots.

Keep on earning that red rep pal

It wasn't just that kick, but missing that kick messed with his head and other misses followed that were ver costly. Didn't he miss one against Tampa? He did miss one against Buffalo, right? The one against New England.

The wind had nothing to do with the kick against the Ravens. That was just a ****ball. I thought it was partially blocked but he just flubbed it. His kicks prior to that were these beautiful bombs going practically out of the stadium. He tried to give that 57-harder extra 'umph' and he just didn't have to cuz he had been crushing all his kicks.

Oh well. Sturgis has been back in a good groove of late. It just would've been nice to not have this week in Buffalo be so must-win, especially with our beat-up secondary. Maybe it's a good thing cuz winning will keep our edge and we'll hit the playoffs guns blazin'

Yeah, you're right about the refs. There was a couple pretty bad ones against Detroit and not against Baltimore when there could have been.

I'll give him a pass since he's a rookie...I will be expecting a much better performance next year....but it is frustrating..seems like every game I watch comes down to a crucial last minute FG attempt that is of course..always made...don't matter indoors, outdoors, wind howling, distance....the kicks are being made.....

I will still cringe when he is in a situation that matters & that moment is coming...I am not convinced he has got his confidence back.

He looks like a golfer who has missed five 3 footers in a row & is facing a down hill slider from 4' every time his name is called.

Miami has been cursed with "bad kicks" since the "Garo play" in Super Bowl VII when Shula decided to run up the score to 17-0 against the Redskins. Csonka even said that it was bad karma to make the score 17-0...which was also their record that year.

Remember Von Schamann'smiss in 1982?
How about Stoyonovich's big miss in the playoffs?

This is something you are going to have to accept. Miami is always going to be plagued by important missed kicks from now on.

We made a few big ones over time, too...but the missed ones really hurt the most. We got the voodoo....

Doesn't matter....every game shapes how the team plays in the future...no one is to say that the Dolphins would be on the run they are now if he makes that kick.

Accept were the team currently is and how, as long as the win out, are in the playoffs regardless of what the Ravens do....

By the way....Detroit sucks....so I wouldn't use that as a judge of how good the Raven are....

I haven't been pleased with sturgis' performance this year but it's hard to pin that loss all on sturgis. He missed a 57 yarder that may have sent it to overtime, who knows what would have happened in overtime.

Notice how the best WR in the league suddenly developed stone hands last night with the ball hitting him right in the gut? Have you read the reports of bogus calls that the Ravens got & just as many that the Lions didn't all over the web today.

Point being it seems that the Lions had alot going against them last night...Even their best player didn't seem interested in making a catch in the 1st half.

I watch the game and saw some very questionable PI calls on Detriot and the absence of some PI calls on Baltimore (one DB actually held one of the Lion's receivers arms while he was trying to make a catch in the endzone)...

I didnt see the game but I hear the officiating was awful and skewed toward Balt...Its all over the web today. This season has been the worst for officials affecting the outcome of games. They should be all but invisible when all is said & done so the players can shine but these guys are front & center every week.

you do realize that we make the playoffs if we win out right? the ravens don't have to lose, the Bengals will if they don't
