Hey everyone good morning, I was listening to the radio this morning on my way to work and I wonder if anyone else heard that Jim Schwartz, Detroit Lions HC, has stated that he wants to build the defense through the draft and may be willing to part with Calvin Johnson in order to receive some added picks. If true, he is an imbecile lol.

It is a pipe dream but if he would be put on the Block, what would you be willing to give up to get him. For sure it would start an insane bidding war the likes that we have never seen lol. My .02: 1st, 2 2nds, 5th and Ginn (just because everyone hates Ginn lol)

I don't care how much, get him

Randy Moss 2.0

Think about it though, we're giving up a ton of draft picks, but Calvin Johnson is undoubtfully worth a 1st and whatever else.

It's like taking a receiver in the first round.

kinda...

I would say I would give up what we gave up to get RW, but the lack of draft picks did screw us as a franchise for about 5 years....

I don't know how realistic it will be that we get him. This regime LOVES draft picks and if its parting lets say 2010 1st, 2011 1st, 2010 2nd and 5th, then I highly doubt we do it.

i don't see them letting him go...multiple 1st rounders easy...maybe 3 of them

we'd never part with that many high picks

I would say I would give up what we gave up to get RW, but the lack of draft picks did screw us as a franchise for about 5 years....

The geniuses running our drafts in those years would've just screwed the pooch on those first rounders anyway, and we would've only been lamenting yet two more first round bust-o-ramas.

LOL.....They finally have their Offense in place with a Young QB and young elite WR, and they are looking to give it away?

I thought Matt Millen left Detroit?

He's too expensive. What if you give up all those first rounders and he blows out his knee in September? Not worth the risk.

Build through the draft unless you can trade for players at a bargain. (i.e. Moss)

Something has been off this year between Stafford and Johnson. It seems that Stafford was way too eager to throw the ball to Bryant Johnson or the TE, Pettigrew, and Calvin Johnson got left out in the cold.

I wonder if Schwartz would be interested in a first rounder and maybe a guy like Phillip Merling who might be best suited as a rush end in a 4-3? Highly doubtful, but interesting to discuss nonetheless.

Hell I'd give up Crowder, Porter, Wilson and Bell to help him build his defense....

And throw in the speeding nerd on top of it...

well i would love to get him but with all the pick NE has they will part with them and look out for the raiders giving up 6 years worth of first rounder cause the greatness of the raiders is in da vertical game

what would i give up for him......

well if he wants to build Defense give him Channing a WR like Ginn who can return adn play WR and a 2011 1st and a 2nd and 4th this years and a 3rd 5th and 7th in 2011 so we would have no draft in 2011 but hey this kid is a stud

I would give whatever it takes to get him. Top 5 wide receiver in the NFL.

edit: why is megatron a tag for this thread :chuckle:

What Jerry Jones gave up to get Roy Williams (1st, 3rd and 6th for Williams and a 7th) will set the low water-level for any serious offers. I would expect they'd be also asking for a 2011 1st or 2nd. That's a pretty stiff price to pay but I'd strongly consider it nonetheless.

In reality, I suspect that a team with some chips like a James Harrison or Shawne Merriman as sweeteners, and/or maybe even an Eddie Royal or Robert Meachum... will be ponying up with that...and draft offers exceeding what they got for Williams.
