Can we get Seattle's OC?

the plan was to throw it all over the place in 2011...to run a more open offense...yes it was...a plan that i said back then was a bad one...that they should stick with the running game pa and defense...schottenheimer made a complete qb misread on that one or whoever was putting the pressure on to be a more mark sanchez will carry us offense...whether it be the gm who was fired the oc who was fired or the hc who should be fired

in 2012 under sparano the plan was a dumpster fire...from the get go...

the jets lost their identity in 2011...

No it was not, the plan was to throw more but not like crazy. We expected Shonn Greene to step up and take the bulk of the carries and have a big year. Unfortunately we struggled to run the football.

week 1: Greene/LT 2.8 YPC, trail by 14 pts early in 4th. mark throws 44 times, NYJ wins
week 2: run well early, get out to big lead, Mark throws 24 times
week 3: tied at half, 18 passes 13 runs. 2nd half go down by 14 mark throws it 26 times, we run it 8 times

need I go on? it was basically, try to run early, fail, fall behind then pass to catch up.

Funny how you try to rewrite history, even your own. Here is a sequence between you and me from Jan 2012, just after the 2011 season:

nyjunc: he has plenty of flaws and needs to vastly improve upon this year.

me: or what? What do you think should happen if he doesn't improve? And by when?

nyjunc: if next year goes like this year I could see us exploring some options, that would be 2 years w/o improving and that would be a red flag. I don't expect that to happen but you never know.

From Nov 2011:

nyjunc: mark is playing poorly right now no doubt about it, he goes through stretches like this. The hope is he would mature and not go throught hese anymore but that hasn't happened.

me: As I warned you last year, if Sanchez doesn't improve, he'll be gone. IMO, he is done on the Jets, this year or next. He is not improving. He can only be hidden for so long. Once the surrounding cast is not as good and more is expected of him, Rex will lose faith.

You admitted that he did not improve in 2011. He was worse in 2012. You stated (mid way through his third year) that "he goes through stretches like this". Well when could those stretches possibly have happened? IN HIS FIRST TWO YEARS.

I'm not sure why you have such an agenda for Sanchez but occasionally you see the light.

Of course he is. Is our running game even average? How about our pass blocking?

what is the point? he's had one bad year in 4 years and that was w/ the biggest mess around a QB I have ever seen. My agenda is I want to win, I have followed this team since I was a little kid in the 80s and the closest we have come to a SB was w/ Mark sanchez at QB so I appreciate that. other QBs may be flashier, put up better fantasy #s but mark made plays to win games(he would also make plays to lose games at times too). The difference in our div rd game at SD in 2009 was at QB, Rivers tried to force things and had a couple of bad TOs, mark did not. I want to win, it's hard to win in this league. Much better QBs w/ more talent around them have played as well as mark in postseason(consistently). I will miss him, I know we would have been much better if he was healthy this year.

yes you have an average run game and pass blocking. if Ryan was playing well you'd be 8-4 or better.

Jets would have 2 Superbowl appearances in the last 5 years if Sanchez was better than Jamarcus Russell.

i dont care what your rb did the first 3 weeks the plan was to become a more open passing offense and rely on the qb more...

and the qb failed...i hate how i let myself get sucked into these things some times...

I think this is where the two extra years as a college starter come into play. Huge advantage for Wilson.
I'm not sure we can be real sure that's the reason, when there is huge variation in the NFL performance of QBs who have the same degree of starting experience in college.

Either act like an adult and discuss things or don't, stop whining.

The plan was to throw more, the plan was not to throw 70% of the time.

2009: pass 40%, run 60%
2010: 50/50
2011: was supposed to be maybe 55-45- nothing drastic and we wound up throwing 55%. early in the season it was skewed more towards passing b/c we fell behind early.

if you don't want to know then don't discuss w/ me so you can post stuff like derrick mason was here for 2 years when he was here a month but if you want to know I'm here to help.

You get an F in reading comprehension. Your comments were about his 2011 season

he had bad moments in 2011 but overall still had a decent year. we had a ton of problems that year, why did he not "drive the bus" when they won but it was all his fault when they lost?

i'm going off my memory...not looking stuff up doing an internet search...so forgive me

that said you are full of **** if you are gonna try to tell me that the jets did not try and go with a more open pass receiving offense in 2011...i know they did...so tell someone else that one...

i know exactly what they did...i saw it with my own eyes

somehow every thread on this damn board ends up having to talk about that sorry excuse for a qb sanchez...

interesting stat on drew brees i came across today...his career qbr is 38 points higher indoors than out...

Do these two statements even resemble one another:

he has plenty of flaws and needs to vastly improve upon this year.

Because he was not a very good QB in 2009 or 2010 and he was worse in 2011 and 2012. Not too complicated.

This why you and I differ so much on this topic. You want to focus on the wins as the sole measure of how the QB is playing and ignore the losses. I look at how the QB is playing regardless of the win or loss. Of course I'd rather my team win, but I don't use that as a cover up of crappy QB play.

that's ok but don't give me snarky comments, if you don't want to discuss this w/ me that's ok. I'll survive, I like to get in these discussions, I have fun w/ it.

You are as correct as you were on Mason, the plan was never to go too pass heavy. again, they were planning to open it up more but nothing crazy. game situations dictated how much they passed.

I didn't bring him up, when I talk Ryan you guys like to deflect as if it makes you feel better about Ryan struggling.

He was top 10 good in 2010, he was good for a rookie in '09, mediocre in 2011 and bad in 2012.

I focus on how we won games, how he helped us. I am less concerned w/ 300 yd games as I am w/ making plays in big spots which he did quite often.

junc again you trying to feed me lines...in 2011 too much relying on the qb...less focus on the downhill riunning game and working off pa and as a result the team lost it's identity and the qbs warts were exposed the more they put on his plate...don't make me chase old posts like finfaninbuffalo

you couldn't run the ball cause you became less power two tight end sets downhill running team into more 3 wide and spread looks and focus on the passing game...i know it cause i freaking saw it...just cause you i guess couldn't see it or refused to doesn't mean i couldn't...

if you don't want snarky comments don't feed me a **** sandwich...

please chase old posts, that's ok. The plan was never to be a pass heavy team, we became one out of circumstances.

while you are looking up old posts find yours where you said all this stuff before the season started.

I am feeding you reality, you refuse to listen so you deflect w/ snarky comments. It's ok, I understand. The guy who told me Mason played 2 years for us when he barely played a month is telling me what the Jets were trying to do that year. Unbelievable.

Mulligan played a lot in 2011 by the way in 2 TE sets and I'd bet we ran more 3 WR sets in 2010 than 2011.
