Can you name some of the guys people screamed for us to draft?

I was screaming for Cedric Benson. Can't really say if he is a bust yet since he missed all that camp and then got hurt, but we can definately say THIS SEASON was a dissappointment :shakeno: I hate to see one of my Longhorns struggle :boohoo: :D

I Would have to throw out the names of a running back named Avery and J.J. Johnson. I kind of remember the hype but can't remember too much pre draft support for them.
Since we have so many threads on this years quarterbacks it would be an interesting topic for a thread on the Dolphins most disappointing quarterback drafts over the years since we haven't seemed to have taken many in years past.

Well, let's see... I'll start with Saban's draft. Here's where I was wrong and he was right:

1. I REALLY wanted to trade down from the number 2 pick. Now, I don't hold this against me because Saban did too... but no good offers.

But I have to say that Saban was dead on right to pick Brown, I think. He opened my eyes this year. He's got a great attitude and great stuff. I think he can be an anchor for years.

2. I was disappointed by the drafting of Daniels in the fourth. I really wanted us to take a flyer on a long shot QB here.

While I am still a proponent of taking long shots on qbs regularly, I have to admit that Saban got way more value than anyone has a right to expect from a fourth round pick.

Now, as to Wanny's drafts... I can honestly say that I don't think there was a single draft pick where Wanny was right and I was wrong. He was almost ALWAYS wrong. McMichael, I think, is the exception.

Going through our drafts in the Wanny years the most striking thing about them is how few picks we had. I haven't counted, but I bet we had less picks than any other team in that span. Crazy.

well we woulve had our qb in place but nyphinfan makes a good point. we wouldve had to run a different type of offensive scheme, more of a horizontal passing game as opposed to a vertical one. frye is in a good situation in cleveland and should do well. i think saban is looking for more arm strength in a qb and someone like cutler probably fits the bill better. guess we'll have to wait and see who he brings in. hope its a winner:evil:

But at that point we didnt even know Ricky was coming back, plus he was at least going to miss the first 5 weeks if he did come back. Ronnie was the correct choice, if we didnt take Ronnie then we would have had less bargaining room with Ricky, and Ricky may not have even come back. I think one of Saban's best tools for getting Ricky to return was guarnanteing that he wont be doing the whole load with 500 carries like Wanny did. Ricky didnt want to die in October.

Now I think Denver is going to offer Ricky the same thing. A dual-HB system that gives him the best chance to have a longer career.

It is pretty funny...he was the man...we hoped he would fall to us I think at 17...turned out to be #1..and now...guys are dead set against him coming here!

it's probably not the same guys.

Last year there was alot of calling for antaaj hawthorne once he got to the late rounds, alot of people weren't happy with us picking travis Daniels
