They will not put Jerry next to a rookie center... Carey is fine but Jerry needs more experience to be next to a rookie center..
Long/Jerry/Pouncey/Carey/Garner.
If we signed O'Hara where do you think he'd fit in the equation?
Don't sleep on Nate Garner, or another FA signing. I think Carey's move inside prolongs his time here for a year or two. Remember, before Leonard Davis was a guard, he was a darn good tackle.
The Carey move inside is good but Columbo possibly starting at RT is awful and far outweighs the move of Carey. You plugged one hole and left a gapping hole somewhere else and this seems like an indication Jerry isn't getting the job done.
So let's see how the great O-line coach is doing with his picks:
2008 Draft
1st Round - Jake Long - stud, franchise LT
4th Round - Shawn Murphy - sucked and cut
6th Round - Donald Thomas - lasted 1 and a half seasons and cut
2009 Draft
6th Round - Andrew Gardner - hasn't done jack
2010 Draft
3rd Round - John Jerry - looks to be on his way to the bench, possibly cut
1 out of 5 players drafted...not good. We have better luck with undrafted free agents on the O-line.
Sparano doesn't draft players
You are correct but you can be damn sure he has a ton of input. Whats funny is if you go back to Parcells history with Dallas they sucked real bad as well when it came to drafting OL.
I just don't think he does. We have three capable OCs on our roster with Pouncey, Incog, and Berger. Well Berger can play OC but not well.
My biggest concern is blocking at the second level. We should move Incognito to C and have Pouncey pull. Richie is not ideally suited for pulling and I would imagine neither is Carey. Who knows especially since this was stated by Sparano as a big concern at the end of the season.
somebody put some cuts together of colombos play at tackle the last few years...i dare ya
i bet romo did a back flip when he heard they had cut that guy...overjoyed probably
