Chad Ochocinco released, states Dolphins possible landing spot.

To clear up multiple misconceptions:

He WAS known as a great route runner in Cinci. How do you think he caught all those balls and went to Pro Bowls?

You can't call someone a good route runner because they went to a pro bowl. Thats the kind of idiotic logic I'd expect from an espn blog entry. Brandon Marshall is a terrible rout runner and was MVP of the pro bowl.

I was just about to point out Brandon Marshall myself.

Not that the pro bowl should ever be considered a tool for measuring talent.

I would why not? The pats always likes to poached people we cut and plus he could give us clues of their offense.
apparently Ocho wasn't smart enough to learn thier offense. so honestly how does signing him make any sense for us?

It might be good to bring him in just for the TV show. The charismatic but aging star trying to extend his career on a new team... You could have him compete against the young talent, showing glimpses of his former self, but ultimately falling short and cut in the season finale... Good storyline

When you have your own TV show you hire him. I find it hard to believe that if there is even a 1% chance he would funk with this team, that anyone would say "O wow, we should sign him because he would make a great storyline". The "storyline" needs to stay about what Phiblin wants it to be about and the future of this team, not how we are helping some down and out over the hill, "NOT SMART ENOUGH to learn the Patriots playbook WR.

What is the bid deal plenty of old people retire in Florida?

He could probably easily learn Sparanos playbook. Its not hard to read books that use stick figures, extra large crayons and a 48 font size..

So to say we are wasting reps on him IF he was brought in is kinda foolish.

No it is not, he is not in any way the future of this team. WTF is a one season WR going to help us? And OMG do not insult everyone by saying he will "mentor" our young WRs. If he is too stupid to learn how to play with Tom Brady, how is he going to learn to be a smart WCO WR?

Every minute spent on him will be wasted, every practice rep will be wasted, every pass thrown in a game will be wasted because it will not help anyone that is the FUTURE of this football team!

I had to laugh last week when I read Sparano praising Sanchez for learning "50-60%" of the play book which of course means he knows how to hand off...

as long as the kicker knows 100 percent of the special teams playbook the jets will be ok.

Let me try to explain this for the several people writing posts like this one.

There are only so many practice reps before the season starts. Every practice reps given to a washed up, 38 year old WR is a rep TAKEN from a rookie or UDFA WR. It is not like we get extra practice time when we sign some over the hill player. So besides showing the young WRs here that we do not have any faith in them, we also take any from them chances to show us if they can play in the NFL.

We already know about the old player. Yes, he could play 5 years ago and no, he can't play anymore.

Also, in case anyone missed it, we are going to be on HBO's Hard Knocks. What do you want the story lines to be? Do you want it to be about C Gates or one of our rookies trying to make the team? Or do you want it to be about us wasting time seeing if a old fart can manage to squeeze one more season out of some stupid NFL team?

There is no "huge risk" bring Jerry Rice or Jason Taylor in, but it is a freaking waste of time and money and PRACTICE REPS !

P.S. Do not want be one of those posters. Do not be one of those who starts a thread when the next washed up player is released from some NFL team after doing almost nothing last season. Do not spout out the old "why not? line. Be better then that.

Thank you for this dissertaion and for taking the time to "try and explain" this to us dolts who could never have an opinion. Your arrogant response does indeed make you a great poster and does encourage us all to "be better THAN that".

in WCO he only needs to "count" & cut.

.

WRONG.

In the Green Bay version of the WCO, a WR will change his route to fit the defense being played and the QB will understand his change. This the way it is for most good passing systems now. This is the way it is for the Patriots. Their WRs need to read the defense and then adjust their routes to it and he is not smart enough.

Not to mention all the "Sparano is a really smart guy with a lot of ideas" quotes. Really? Does anyone in Jet Land understand that he had ZERO to do with coming up with the Wildcat?

David Lee explained it to Henning. Lee and Henning then explained it to Pennington. Leee, Henning and Pennington then explained it to Sparano and Tony simply OKed it to be used.
