Chad Ochocinco reportedly admits to playbook woes

outside of the playbook issues they also talked about an altercation on the sidelines with ocho and brady last season...i don't know how accurate that is but i seem to recall something along those lines watching a game last year...that the camera picked up some heated stuff at one point

no doubt...i think some it was razzing beli for the signing and money in the first place and then some of it was like a ochos not scaring anyone anymore thing...i tend to agree with the latter...i don't think teams are afraid of ocho anymore...
Why would you be? He did nothing last year and he became second fiddle to Terrell Owens in Cincy where you would think he had better knowledge of the offense and better chemistry with Carson Palmer. If anyone can take the homer glasses off for a moment I think they would realize this. Chad's signing didn't get me excited and I would have prefered us not signing him but I also realize that his signing is zero risk as long as the staff judges him on what he is now and what he does in camp. If we put him on the roster only because of what's he's done in the past or HOPING he returns to past glory then we've screwed up. Realistically though I don't see 5 guys on this roster right now better than him. I don't think he's a capable go to receiver anymore but I do think if you sprinkle him in there he can still move the chains.

good points...my issue though with him here other than he's not close to the alpha wr anymore everyone seems to think we are getting is that the pups don't get better sitting behind ocho cinco...i don't see him as a mentor in any way...he's gonna be in everyones ear if he doesn't get the ball when he thinks he's open...it just seems like a distraction and a guy taking snaps from people who we need to help us down the line or at least figure out of they can help us...his signing says to me that we got a lot of bad wr talent in camp right now

Agree and disagree. From all accounts I've read and heard is that Chad brings it every practice. He practices at full speed and he expects everyone else to do the same...the younger receivers will learn from that and from watching how he goes about his business. He works hard and there is a lot to be said about that...that's the good. The bad would be that he's in the coaches ear and the QBs ear saying he's open all the time. But the younger WRs can learn from watching, he doesn't have to take them aside and mentor them for them to learn. I remember when Green Bay drafted Aaron Rodgers and everyone was saying how Favre would mentor him and Favre response was I'm not going to mentor him or show him how to play, that's the coaches job...Rodgers still learned a lot from Favre just by watching.

i just see it as a waste of time...doesn't mean i won't root for him in games til i see otherwise but if this is about building for the future i don't see where ocho should come into play at all...i would have steered clear...i have a hard time seeing this wr core producing 10 receiving tds as a unit this year...with or without ocho...i really do

Yeah I can understand that. 10 TDs is what he got from the receiving corp last year and in 2010...seems pretty awful. I would think a new passing offense would help those numbers but until proven otherwise I would have to agree with your prediction and I don't think Chad will help all that much. If he gets more than 3 TDs this season I think we should count ourselves pretty lucky.

if we get more than 10 we can thank the offense for it...that's all i know...or one of these rookies we haven't heard a good peep from yet makes the leap which is few and far between...i mean really...we got ocho on his last legs brian hartline who on a good team is no better than a #3 wr davon bess who is a slow slot with no big play real potential naanee who has been hot garbage other than specials everywhere wallace who couldn't get off press or separate in pads last year...i mean where's the guys who are gonna drive this o...you can't run 85 plays a game on o if your wrs aren't getting open and dropping the ball...you can run up tempo all you want which by the way up tempo is fueled by your wrs...we got some of the worst in the league...as a unit for sure we do

gonna be tough for whoever the qb is...no one to take any pressure off

Your football analogy is 'spot on'

HOWEVER, never under estimate management to make a move for political reasons ...
1) Chad will help sell tickets
2) Signing Chad may show they are worried about the WR position (can hide problem better with Chad in there)
3) If WR holds the team back, signing a "name star" is as good excuse as any to keep from getting fired ... shows gullible fans they are making moves for them.

Here is what we do when Chad comes in.....tell him to run a button hook.....line up on the left side and run 15 yards and turn around....pretty simple stuff. :3w:

If Chad does come in and perform at anything above "replacement", Miami will likely see it sooner rather than later. If teams realize that Miami is keeping things super simple with Chad, which they likely will... they'll catch on quickly.

Chad will probably run the Flat, Comeback, and Dig... those were his best routes in his prime. I don't think he's got the goods anymore to run good Corner routes or anything deep. He'll be an asset with his quick feet and good hands, that's it.

Chad just told a patsies fan to "**** off bitch" on twitter!

I concur, the you'd have to be Manning or Marino to make this WR group effective. Even then it'd be hard. It's a very good point about trying to run an up tempo offense when no one is ever open. We really need someone to step up big time, hopefully Wallace or Gates, and Clyde isn't coming on too strong its been said.
