Sorry if this has already been mentioned, but per OvertheCap, because they were able to trade him, the Dolphins gain back about 1.9 million of cap room. They still lose about 1.5 million in dead money, but still, this is much better than cutting him, and carrying about 3.1 million in dead money.

Outstanding move by the Dolphins, to make a poor situation a little better.
