Check out the lines for Week 1...

Well.....I went looking for a link but I think that Defense is just a little too old.

I was watching an old NFL films show and they were talking about the old Giants from the 50's, Jim Brown, and in general the "heyday". Along the way in the program one of them said that the 4-3 defense was introduced by Tom Landry while defensive coordinator for the New York Giants.

They said it was a defense created to stop Jim Brown.

And it showcased the talents of none other than Sam Huff.

Now that may have been a stretch of the truth on the creation of the defense but who am I to argue? I'm only 33.

This is wwwwaaaaaaaayyyyyy :topic:

No, it's not Lebeau's. It's GW's.

The old staff at Tennessee got sold on this defense along time ago by a master Buddy Ryan. (I feel like we're talking budhism now)

He's got a video out on the Defense. Hang on and I'll post a link.

check it out.

You're right about Lebeau and the zone blitz but he did it mostly out of the 4-3 or 3-4.

Hell, all the 4-6 is basically is one blitz after another. The only problem for offenses is that you don't know who is coming.
WTH is this, no wonder the Bills DE's are having so many problems. This is crazy D, I agree it's a gambling one that can pay good dividends with the right people, but Boy do they have to trust each other, and your right, some of these things are too much for Adams. The Bears had Perry, who was a lot younger than Adams and very motivated, that kind of DT can make this thing work. The Bills have a good LB corps, but Flect is no (Man forgot his name, LB coach for the ravens now) MLB of the 85 Bears, I can't believe I forgot his name. He was so good. Spikes and Posney can handle the OSL stuff pretty well, they have the speed, but the DE has to do his job for them to be effective. The 3-4 D poises the same blitz situations for O's as well. While I think that Clements can close down Recivers, I have my doubts about Winfield doing the same.

Who says this site isn't educational. This is good stuff. If only I understood it.

Studying defenses is one of the fun parts of this game. I just wish I had overhead film of it.

On a side note, it's too bad that the only defenses I can coach myself are.

If I got a stud linebacker

or

If we are having a tough time stopping them.

10 and 11 year olds.

There is a better site to explain the 46 defense. Although I think it's oversimplified the title of it is correcting the flaws.
