Chicken Little and Boy Who Cired Wolves, please help me to understand.

What’s really frustrating is when the “we suck” and “I told you so” clubs come out of the woodwork it bogs down the site to the point where the guys who post regularly can’t post. It’s always when we lose or are losing.

so the site says sorry bogged down by negative nancies when they try to hit send on a post?

It is not the fact we are 0-2. It is the fact that the Phins spent decent money to help fix a defense that still can’t generate a pass rush and even though improved last week, has issues stopping the run. In addition was very suspect play by the secondary. Miami would need a 1999 Rams offense to outscore what their defense allows. With that said, what can Miami do fundamentally to fix this issue? Are Ogbah and Lawson going to wake up one day from their journeymen career and overpaid salaries and be sackmasters. When Clowney was there for $15m-$17m for one year, everyone scoffed. There was enough done on defense to pass up on a pass rush specialist. And with such a need for offensive firepower, Miami still drafted a corner in round 1, passing on pretty good running backs and wide receivers. So the sky is falling and this team, which won’t win much, has a chance to salvage this season and develop their rookie qb and get the Oline in synergy.
The $15m-$17m spent on Clowney for one year could not be rolled over to 2021 to spend on free agency.

I predict the same people complaining that Miami didn't sign Clowney would be part of the group of people next off season complaining how Grier could have been so stupid to spend all the money on a one-year player limiting our free agency options in 2021.

And I would be part of the group complaining Grier was foolish in spending that money on Clowney if he had.

I really have to laugh at most of these crybabies... because trying to engage them in a logical debate is like trying to argue with a pigeon.

Oddsmakers expected us to lose both games, and we did... though we beat the spread against Buffalo. We've played exactly as the well educated have expected us to play.

The over/under on Dolphins wins this year was established at 5.5, and losing two close games to the two best teams in our division was part of that 5.5 expectation.

So for those of you who have a childish need to cry... to kvetch... to tell the world that you are smarter than the experts, feel free... I need a good laugh during these Covid times.

Are the Miami Dolphins the only team who didn't have preseason games? I keep seeing this "no preseason" thing. Our opponents didn't have preseason, and the Patriots had a brand new qb

2 new coordinators. A multitude of new personnel on both sides of the ball. And the proverbial growing pains that come along with all of it. With Training camp and Preseason reps. Without? A chit show.

I dont care what kind of preseason you have, Josh Allen shouldnt have a career day against your secondary that has over $100 million invested in it. Very legitimate concerns with this defense and its coaching.

I will admit that I am totally frustrated by the fact the Dolphins have basically been no better than mediocre for two decades and we are in the middle of another rebuilding of the roster. Yet that is the case and we now have to accept this was never a one year rebuilding process. It was always going to take at least two drafts and free agency periods to upgrade many of the positions on the roster. So the 2019 and 2020 seasons to me were always intended to be preparation for the 2021 season, when I expect the team to be a playoff team.
I went into this season expecting no more than 4-6 wins. My goal is for the team to improve as the season goes along and for Tua to get enough starts to be prepared to be the full time starter once the 2021 season begins.

I am happy the OL seems to be playing better than expected early in the season. Gaskin has looked good at the RB position and Gesicki appears to have picked up from where he left off last season. Losing close games to the Patriots and Bills is nothing to be worried about at this time because both of those teams are better than the Dolphins right now. The defense is the major concern IMO because it just doesn’t appear to be any better than the 2019 defense even though this was the side of the ball where the most money was spent in free agency and a first and second round pick was used on defensive players. Hopefully the defense will come together as the year goes along.

I will watch this season to see how the overall team develops under Flores and a basically new coaching staff. I will give Flores and Grier last year and this year to turn this team around and get it headed in the right direction. I figure two years is sufficient time to rebuild in the NFL today and therefore I fully expect the a Dolphins to be a playoff team in 2021. If they are not a playoff team next season and they are merely mediocre or worse at that time, then my patience with Flores and Grier will have run out. Hopefully at this time next year we will all be writing about the great job Grier and Flores have done in rebuilding the Dolphins into a solid and winning football team.

I agree that the negativity gets to the point of being unreasonable with some, but the oddsmakers don't base it on how they think games will actually turn out. They make lines based on the $. That is all that matters to them. For example, when a line moves, it is because more is coming in on one side than the other, not because thier opinion has changed.

Anyone remember when Philly went all in and got themselves a "Dream Team"? Anyone remember how that turned out?

Now replace a 10-6 team adding some FAs with a 5-11 team that just went through another roster churn in as many years.

the most perplexing part of that team(at that time) to me was the decline of Nnamdi Asomugha.

Nnamdi had a decline, but he was far from the reason why that team dropped to .500. Anywho, it did get Big Red to KC where he was able to build upon the pieces left for him. And it did net a SB eventually for the Eagles.

But that team went all in with FAs, ala Redskins, and got the results they deserved.

The Dolphins did the same thing in regards to free agents in Shula’s last year as the head coach. They went out and signed a lot of former first round picks and many so called experts expected than to make it to the Super Bowl. Instead they finished 9-7 and lost to Buffalo in the wildcard game.
Building a team with free agents who’s former teams are willing to just let them go is never an effective way to build a winner in the NFL. The better teams build through the draft and only dip into free agency to sign one or two top free agents once they already have a solid roster built through the draft.

Most of the secondary money is tied up on the guy that left with an injury very early in the game and the other guy that just started practicing and conditioning a few weeks ago.
