Chirs Perkings Draft Pick Argument

I believe Perkins gets paid to be a contrarian. This doesn't make a lick of sense unless its written to get attention, because otherwise he is just making himself look stupid.

So lets just assume that the defense was one LB away from being Top 10 AND the oline was one Player away from being Top 10..... you have one pick. A Franchise LB type, (Ray Lewis, Von Miller etc...) is there and a Franchise LT (Ogden etc...) is there......... who do you take?

In that case? Lewis.

Newspapers are in the business to drive traffic for advertisers not for being smart or right. Perkins has won here.

Five years down the road I doubt any of those teams that picked in front of us will regret passing on Tunsil, even if they all picked busts.

would love to hear why? If Tunsil is a Pro-Bowl tackle and some of the other picks are bust, you still believe teams would look back and say they would still rather take the bust than the Pro-Bowler?

What do I think about it? I dont. I don't think about things that make absolutely no sense whatsoever. In the case of Perkins it really exposes that he's really a basketball guy and there are some serious holes in his basic understanding of football. He also said the pick was a complete waste because Tunsil was not a guard (LMAO) and the Dolphins primary need was at guard (completely overlooking the fact that Tunsil could play guard for one year, or someone else could , or the fact that Tunsil may be needed at tackle in case of injury or if Albert was moved inside etc etc etc, there are many different scenarios for people who have watched the game for more than 2 years). di
What do you guys think of this argument for choosing Darron Lee with the 13th pick over Tunsil? Basically what he's saying is that more teams make the playoffs that have top 10 defenses as opposed to teams that have top 10 offenses, therefore he would have picked a defensive player with the 13th pick.

So the discussion is, would you rather have a top 10 offensive line or a top 10 defense?

My rebuttal to him would be, selecting Darron Lee would not have made our defense a top 10 defense, this year or ever.

Whereas selecting Tunsil could POSSIBLEY give us a top 10 offensive line from day one.

What do you guys think?

Forgot to post the link.

More top 10 defenses make the playoffs than top 10 offenses? Is that a fact? Cause I'm pretty sure it's the opposite. And I know for a fact offense is more consistent from year to year than defense. Anyway, even if it were a defensive league, are we really one player away from being a top 10 defense? (hint: no). What is this guy on? Couldn't he at least have said Myles Jack? At least then you're in the ballpark.

10k bet. In 5 years, take a look back, and if any reasonable human can say that NO team, drafting 1-12, would prefer Tunsil to what they got from this draft, you win. Otherwise, I win.

Because, honestly, I think you're blowing smoke out of your ass on this one.

To the OPs point?

1) Yes, I think a top 10 defense is essential toward winning a championship.
2) No, I do not think that Darron Lee would have put the Fins D anywhere close to a top 10 defensive unit.
3) The best pick at 13 was Tunsil. He was also the best pick at 12, 11, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, and maybe 5.
4) Chris Perkins is an idiot.

Actually, scratch 5. I think Jacksonville got the best player in the draft there.

I agree that defense should've been a top priority, but I wouldn't have passed on Tunsil. I also don't think the addition of Tunsil puts our offensive line in the top 10. The line has been terrible and I think it had to do with coaching; hopefully, they can protect Tannehill.

Do you honestly think there is a single Titan fan ruing the day they picked Locker instead of Pouncey? Nobody gives a **** about Mike Pouncey from that draft and if they could do it over 99% would take JJ Watt. Hell, a lot of Dolphin fans don't even want Pouncey on the team.
