Chris Chambers WAY Underrated!!

He's not big enough IMO... He's a great reciever, but he isn't dominant because he dosn't overpower the Db the way TO does...

He'd be better suited as a number two.

But I don't get how someone can be underrated when they haven't performed like a top 5 WR, regardless of the reason.

I guess Randy Moss will never be a top WR because he is too weak.

Bad route running and D regonition will hold him back from being top 10. He may make a pro bowl one day.....just not for a few more years ...has alot to learn as far as route running is concearned. Mkaes great catches but how many times do you see him get wide wide open on one on one coverage.....not often enough to be top 10.

Excellent point!!!

Only his rookie season when he led the league in YPC did you ever really see him wide open on most of his catches. Now he makes amazing catches. Half of them are just his talent, the other half are because he is completely smothered and covered he has o make a great catch.

Hey guys, my first post, but long time reader.

First off, let me begin by saying I, without doubt, believe Chambers belongs in the top 10. However, as all other finatics, we can only base this on his skill level, which the entire league knows is there. Sooner or later, he will have a break out year. Im just hoping it happens with Miami! Yes, its inevitable people, but our recieving core cannot remain this skilled. Our secondary fell victim to the harsh environment of the NFL, and our recieving core is next. I just hope Chambers remains patient, and stays with the best franchise in the NFL ........ the Dolphins of course.

Went a little off topic, my apologies, but according to the "Pro Football Weekly" 2005 preview (which ranks the top players as per every position) Chambers is the #9 reciever. The list looks as follows, along with the given rating.

1. Moss (oak) 4.5
2. Harrison (ind) 4.45
3. Owens (phi) 4.45
4. C. Johnson (cin) 4.1
5. Holt (stl) 4.1
6. Ward (pit) 3.95
7. Mason (blt) 3.9
8. Coles (nyj) 3.85
9. CHAMBERS (MIA) 3.8
10. Horn (no) 3.7
11. A. Johnson (hou) 3.7
12. Walker (gb) 3.7
13. Smith (jac) 3.65
14. Bruch (stl) 3.65
15. Moulds (buf) 3.6
16. K Johnson (dal) 3.5 <---------- I'm surprised hes ranked this low :tsk:
17. Smith (den) 3.5
18. Boldin (stl) 3.45
19. McCardell (sd) 3.4
20. Muhammad (chi) 3.2
21. Porter (oak) 3.1
22. Jackson (sea) 3.0
23. Driver (gb) 3.0
24. Branch (ne) 3.0
25. Burress (njg) 2.9
26. Burleson (min) 2.9
27. S. Moss (wash) 2.9

Im not saying I agree with the list in its entirety, but its a good evaluation at the position. Use this list solely as a tool for comparison, as all the top recievers have all been included.

Just curious though, how many believe Chambers is given too much credit on this list. Now now, jills and jets fans, please be nice.

Chambers is OVER-RATED. Making spectacular catches does not make one a top receiver. If that were the case Orande Gadsden would have been the best receiver in the league.

Chambers has speed and great hands... but is lacking in the one category that seperates(pun intended) the men from the boys in the receiver category, an that is his route running. He never finds the seems in defenses and doesn't seem to get much seperation despite his obvious speed advantage over most corners.

It seems he runs his his routes at half speed, and then once he has the ball in his hands, really turns on the juice. If he ran all his routes (or even half of them) with that intensity BEFORE he got the ball, and cleaned up his cuts, he would be tough for opposing defenses to deal with, but after 4 years of seeing the same thing with little to no improvement, I doubt we will see it. He is a good complementary receiver (Much like Peerless Price to Eric Moulds a few years back), but does not have the skills to be a team's go to guy.

Moulds has had horrible QBs and he's still been able to put up better numbers than Chambers.

Chambers isn't even in Moss' jockstrap league. No comparison.
