Chris Mortenson just reported

If there is one mistake we have made, IMO it is that we have not reiterated enough (publically) for all the possible Surtain traders that after the draft it will be too late to trade for him, we will let him play out his contract and franchise him next year.

The Chiefs may be thinking, as some folks are, that we'll cut him anyway.

yeah... its gna happen.

Same with Minny.

No offense, but there's just not the evidence for this. KC is debating the issue right now. They may get hyped and decide to go that route or they may be conservative and avoid it. Peterson is a conservative guy and he's not going to make a rash decision, so it's still 50/50 on Surtain.

With Minn., they want to trade down and get more picks or, as I noted in the other thread, they can take either Williams or Williamson.

never thaught about that aspect of it you may be right..it will never happen but you may be right about what people might be thinking

If the top 3 CB's are gone before #15, then Pat may be gone

Chris Mortenson just reported on ESPN that the Chiefs were going to make a decision either tonight or by noon tomorrow on giving up a 2nd rd pick for Surtain. IMO I think they are about to crack!!!

We should let the Chiefs rot!

With their entire O in its early-mid 30's the Chiefs window is closing fast! If they dont want a Pro Bowl caliber defender to help push them over the top they deserve to rot!

They need to give us a 2nd and a 4th or **** off!

That doesn't matter.

Surtain is 10 times the player Buchanan is. If Buchanan is worth a 2nd and a 3rd, then you wouldn't get Surtain unless you gave up the 15th pick if I were running things.

This is an over exageration, Surtain is NOT 10 times the player of Buchanon. Bushanon has MORE raw talent that Surtain and is a multi dimensional player and a big play player.

No it isn't. Surtain is 10 times better than him. You're just a cane homer.

Sign and trade players are worth less than guys with contracts

I sure hope it is more than a second round pick.

There is something bad wrong with things if Philip Buchanan draws more in a trade than Patrick Surtain.
See I like Surtain as much as you do but theres a good reasom imo that Buchanon drew more interest. Buchanon is younger and hes still on his relatively cheap rookie deal whereas Surtain needed to be signed to a big money extension. Essentially what teams are saying is that a young player like buchanon who's a step down from Surtain is worth more because you can win with him without him killing your cap. I dont necessarily agree with that line of logic but I think thats what it would mean.

The other thing is we cant know for sure if Saban is actually asking for only a 2nd or is he asking for more? The media has speculated but no one except Nick knows for sure.

Yes like many have said, looks like the Chiefs are about to crack.

You get what you pay for.

Meanwhile, the Texans were raving about their acquisition of Buchanon, whom the team hopes will challenge veteran Aaron Glenn and second-year cornerback Dunta Robinson for a starting job.

"He's a great young player and I think he'll fit really well in our system here,'' Texans general manager Charley Casserly said. "We're excited about the deal.'' As for Buchanon's self-aggrandizing personality -- he has spoken recently about legally changing his name to "Showtime" and once arrived at Raiders' training camp in a stretch limousine wearing a Playboy pajama suit -- Casserly said Houston has the kind of disciplined coaching staff that can handle such an over-the-top character.

Thats just crazy! Even Randy Moss wouldn't change his name to "Showtime".

Houston overpaided for what could be a headcase. He demanded a trade & belittled the team. I understand Surtain requested permission to seek a trade, but he has no past history of not being a team player
