CNN'S Twist on Martins sister

"People who don't agree with me must be children."

Here we go. :brewskis:

It perpetuates a culture in this country that needs to be eradicated. High school girls get raped and we have school districts covering it up because the rapist is a football player. Women get raped in the military and their commanding officers sweep it under the rug. Women get raped every day in this country and as a society we are far too quick to blame the women ..."it's how that acted" ..."it's how they dressed." This happens all the time. And don't, for a second think I don't know that sometimes those accusations are unfounded. I know some are. I'm speaking about those cases where there is clear evidence that a violent act occurred and that a rape was committed. Far too many women are afraid to even to report it these days because they don't trust law enforcement to be on their side.

Are you suggesting that Alpha-males never commit rape? Ridiculous.

I've spent a good part of my career around Alpha-males. For the past 10 years or so, I've shared a workspace with a guy who's the epitome of an Alpha-male. We're good friends both inside and outside of work and I've never heard him or anyone else ever say anything approaching the stuff you guys are defending. As a matter of fact, I'd bet my paycheck that if someone went there in front of him, he'd have the same reaction I'd have.

Being an Alpha-male doesn't come with a requirement to be crude and vulgar. That's a characteristic cretins take on for themselves. Let's not paint the whole group with that brush.

You're implying that people who think rape is funny are less dangerous than those with the moral clarity to not joke about an issue so serious. That's monumentally ridiculous.

Here's the thing; Am I excusing rape? No. Never. Not seriously. Do I joke about it? Yes, I do. And I do it right along
with the women in our turnout, who have every recourse in the world aviliable to to them to report it. Why don't they report
a daily event that would turn a sailor blue with shame and heartache? Because they understand it within context, and they all
know all they have to do is say "Stop" and it will.

Three years in the same shift turn out...Date rape and AIDS jokes....And worse.

We're not bad people, just a bunch of guys and girls walking into harms way, every
day coping as we can.

Just, again, nothing exists in a vacuum.

"I am going to f–k you without a condom and c– in your c—."
That's how you talk to your co-workers? And you'd be okay with someone saying that to your daughter. And you'd encourage your daughter to find that amusing?

Is that what happened? Yeah, that's not cool. But again, that's pretty minor and stinks of yellow journalism.
We have players that have engaged in some of the most malicious and damning behavior
around, and they STILL get adulation, and adoration.

I'll put it this way; A grown person has recourse. A dog has no recourse.
Funny how ALL OF A SUDDEN all this stuff pops up.

Meanwhile, we have teams where a dude KILLED a guy, and nobody's
really blaming anybody.

No argument from me here Vick should never have played a down again! He was the house of a illegal gambling ring and by the NFL Code Of Conduct it's a life time ban. That said doesn't mean excuse the acts of others! Mando just put out a article saying he has talked to eye witnesses at the Golf Outing and it all happened.

Again, we have no idea of the context. From the sounds of it, it sounds like something an opposing player would say on the field as a way to get under the other player's skin. We have heard trash talk like this going on on the field for ages. I would put 90% odds on this being the exact context of the quote in question... In all likelihood, this was a guy on defense trash talking during a drill in training camp.

sorry, I joke with some of my friends about similar things usually involving their mom. they in turn joke about my mom, and at no point do I feel bullied or feel the need to think they are serious.
Exactly. Yet some how you manage to present yourself as a human being with common morals and restraint on this PUBLIC board? Isn't that impossible? Surely, how you behave in privacy with friends would translate in some fashion to this board?! It would be impossible for you to hide your truly barbaric self! *sarcasm* Therefore, what you say can't be true, WB. I must make a leap and conclude you are also a liar! *sarcasm again, just trying to make a point*

And no, I wouldn't find that amusing outside of work.

Further, I'd handle it.

According to an "eye witness"

Try explaining the concept of context with regards to this statement to a jury full of women and men with young daughters. Not even Johnny Cochran or F. Lee Bailey on their best days could pull off that impossible task. Responsible adults don't joke about genocide, racism, or rape - in any context.

Really? You must not listen to any stand up comedy.

:sidelol:

Yeah, uhm, how's life on campus at Berkeley treating you these days?

Seriously. I've heard some pretty off-color racist jokes told by a US Senator (a Democrat, btw) and plenty of Hitler jokes told by a world renowned pathologist (yeah, he was an old timer). If you think 'responsible' people don't joke about awful things, I can't even fathom what a sheltered life you live.

So i'm here trying to relax and enjoy my coffee this morning watching CNN and here is their spin on this. And I quote " Threatened to take part in the gang rape of his sister"

This is absolutely ridiculous. I can't believe it has gotten to this point. There were a bunch of guys acting like guys do and this is the outcome??

They had three extreme feminists raking the Dolphins and Incognito on MSNBC this morning, all talking like they know exactly what happened. They basically had an every-man-is-a-pig attitude for even looking at a woman. They're always some ugly, fat has beens who make these comments.

I love hearing my wife start to go in on those types of women.
She gets really mean, and I think, starts to bully.
