Coaching Question on Dallas Thomas?

i think he will get some swing tackle looks in camp especially if they dont sign a veteran or the draft doesnt bring another one but ideally i'd say he's gonna be a left guard if he makes it at all...zone scheme if he makes it too...very finesse soft body average feet at tackle but kicked inside in a phone booth more suited...but oh boy does he have to show he's gotten much better upper body and core strength and a better body period...

he looked frankly sloppy in 2013

should be fun, shelly smith, brenner, thomas. alot of potential at guard which are all scheme fits, add a vet and we are set at guard
Thomas is not a scheme. He's the slowest linemen on the team! lol

Give me Armstead over this bum!!!!

Dallas Thomas looked like he was playing scared. You can blame Jim Turner that bit of stupidly

Not really. Just because he didn't play last year doesn't mean he doesn't have a future. He shut down Clowney last year and was projected a top 50 pick in the draft. We got good value for him and he graded out very well by every draft analysist. A little better coaching and strength training could pay out.

lol Clowney was a pro last year?!?

No idea where you came up with that. Maybe you can fill us in.

Thanks for the Youtube, Thomas didn't look especially quick, surprised he is 6'5, think guard is his best chance of success.

Did you notice that on both of his snaps or just one of the two?

This is another player that i really hope can pan out. We continue to waste picks on players who cant even be decent back ups. 3rd rd pics should be contributing, and this is why this team has been CURSED with such bad play for the last decade.

I disagree with your statement that he was a bad pick after one year. He may never amount to anything for sure- then we can call him a bust and a bad pick. But most players take time to develop. Philbin admitted he has been moved around too much, and that they need to get him somewhere and leave him there to learn and develop.

I gotta believe that Mike Mayock knows a bit more, and now that we have a heralded offensive line coach, I hope Mr. Thomas proves you wrong.

What a bad, bad pick.

Now Hayden, you are the one who always says you can't judge a draft class till year three.

He only played two snaps last year. Way too early to give up on him or assume the worst. Let's give it a bit more time.

He came off shoulder surgery and never had a chance to earn a starting spot. He is a starting caliber OG and backup OT. I think this year he is 100% healthy and will be much stronger to play the LG position. Smith will play RG unless we trade for Mathis. Brenner should be muched improved too this year but he will be a backup OG/C.

After year one he was a very bad pick, he may develop but he received basically no playing time on a very bad line.
An undrafted free agent proved to be more ready than him to play in Sam Brenner. Its ignorant to not admit he didn't show anything for a rookie and there were tons of chances for him to earn the chance to prove.
