I think you mean Parkey and it’s been known for about an hour now.
They weren’t. You are confusing them with the gang that played for the Skins during the same era - nicknamed...”the smurfs”. And there were the “3 amigos” all 5’9” guys in Denver catching the rock from Elway. Nat Moore was 5’9”. Duriel Harris was about the same. Typical WR was 5’9”. That was the prototype. Guys like Art Monk at 6’1” - who played w the Smurfs - looked humongous.
I just used Dupe as a Dolphin example.
Antonio Brown is 5'10" 186.
Albert Wilson is a much larger receiver than Antonio Brown (20 pounds heavier despite being one inch shorter).
there is NO excuse for not resigning Parkey unless he got #1 Kicker money.
T-bum you dumb a$$
All of you in Florida have the ability to go to Hard Rock and have your voices and opinions heard. Stop using FH to cry when you should actually do something about the inept F.O. running our beloved Dolphins into the ground. Go petition for Tannenclown to be fired or else no one will come to any games which will hit Ross right in the pocket.
Maybe he mumbled something under his breath while Gase was in earshot.
Fuad Reviez definitely would not have fit the culture around here. A former standout LB in high school who loved to run downfield on kickoffs and hit people. Too tough for Gase and T-Dumb and this mamby pamby team they are trying to build.
Last year we had 4 players who were near the top of their position in the league. We've let 3 of them go this off-season. Certainly never expected thus off-season could be worse than last, but here we are.
I hear Parkey dropped a gum wrapper on the practice field once and never picked it up. If true, he had to go.
Well, I mean, you wouldn't say Tannehill lost his job to Cutler, although I can see your point, since apparently Sturgis won't return to the Eagles. Anyway, I thought you were being sarcastic because many don't realize Sturgis was excellent for the Eagles, injury concerns aside
Ummmm, yeah, believe it or not Gostkowski has been their kicker since Vinatieri left in 2006 to become a Colt. Only 22 seasons between 2 kickers. No stability there. LOL
We are upset because we didnt re-sign a kicker that we picked up off of waivers? Come on now - some of you just need to retire from the internet until August.
Just upset because we lost another vg player, more steps back
It was nice having confidence that our kicker was going to make it for the first time in a few years.
Franks is available
Watch Miami bring him back
Parkey was too good last year and it costed us a top 6 pick....lol
btw, we lost our kicker plus our back up kicker too(Suh)
This guy was phenomenal with the onside kicks last year. He deserves a good offer from us. I'm starting to think Tannenbaum is trying to get himself fired...
What does it matter how we acquired him? He was a good player, having a good kicker is important. Imagine how different things would be for the Pats if they had a crappy kicker.
this bums me out after watching how good the onside kicks were this year. I'll never forget us getting it in Buffalo and then watching Cutler throw a INT the very next play.
Same old stupid Dolphins.
Suh was great.
Parkey was good.
Landry was no where near the top of his position anytime during his career.
Why the hell is this Gase's decision when he's not the GM? He shouldn't have the power. Why even have Grier around? This team learns nothing from past mistakes.
How could they let this guy slip out of the barn?
He did his damn job last year and he is young.
A bad kicker can cost us 3 or 4 games easy…
This team never ceases to amaze me.
Does the staff need alarm clocks to remind them when to re-sign guys?
It may have been that Parkey didn't want to come back for whatever reason.
I don’t think that’s the case. He’s from Jupiter, and has said he loves the Dolphins.
“I’d love to stay here and play here for a long time,” Parkey said. “Statistically, I think that I’m one of the better kickers in the league over the four years. So yeah, I’d love to stick around on one team and just make this my home and be able to bring a Super Bowl here. That’s the ultimate goal.”
Parkey was incredible last year. But I suppose it's fair that he doesn't have a huge body of work.
Landry I'm saying as a slot WR. Paying him top WR money was never on the table. The top guys will be getting 20 plus going forward.
Really curious to know if the Dolphins even offered Parkey a new contract.
My guess is that they let him test the waters, and the Dolphins couldnt/wouldnt match!
He shoulda been locked up when we picked him up. Was a steal that we let slip away for nothing.
True, we'd have only won 3 games without Parkey's 3 game winners. I think they're eyeing a QB in 2019 and are "rebuilding." Their odds are a push for 7.5 wins. T Bum needs to go.
Short kickoffs or hometown clubbing.
That is my theory.
This one I DO NOT understand. One of the better kickers in the league IMO.
The 2 WRS I like, both of them. But this is a head-scratcher.
There are things behind the scenes with this franchise that we are unlikely ever to know. Guys may be altogether different than our perception of them. I thought Parkey was a great guy, a seamless fit and a LOCK to be here for 10+ years.
don't get this at all, he was the best we've had in a long time
Wrong (head case),
WRONG (wide-whatever ref$u thug),
wrong (was in the league in the 90's),
wrong (been done for a while).
Thats what got him cut Gases QB screwed up and we had to blame somebody for the loss.
I had much greater confidence in Parkey than I had with Franks. This is disappointing but we will find another Kicker. I assure you that if this is our biggest problem, then we are going to have a great season.
Think Cairo Santos is still out there. He was pretty good with KC before he got hurt. Butker came in and didn't allow him to get his job back. Did anyone pick him up?
