The story of the day was the running backs and the forty yard dash. Ronnie Brown was reported to have unofficially ran as low as 4.32 on his second try after running a 4.40 on his first run, but the official time was 4.48. DeAndra Cobb of Michigan State ran the third fastest time with a 4.49. The fastest runner in this group was Cal's JJ Arrington who turned in a 4.46. The disappointment of the day was Maurice Clarrett who turned in a 4.82 on his first run and a 4.72 on his second. Ryan Grant turned in a solid time of 4.54 which Wisconsin's Anthony Davis matched. Nehemiah Broughton was unofficially timed at 4.48 as his fastest time, we will try to have his official time soon.

For the linemen, the impressive times came from Evan Mathis who ran 4.97 and Khalif Barnes ran a 5.1. Richie Incognito ran a 4.90 but sprained his knee and did not finish today. Elton Brown went home with an injury and did not work out, Alex Barron didn't run but did post a 35" vertical.

The defensive end weigh-ins were interesting today. Shawne Merriman was the most impressive player to come though. He came in at 6'4, 272 and was very cut. He looks like he could easily add 10-15 more lbs and had very little body fat. His stock is soaring right now. Some teams even feel he could line up at middle linebacker. Dan Cody was affected by a sinus infection he had last week and showed up at a light 255. He said the infection cost him about 10 lbs. Cody was advised not to run by his agent and willl not participate in workouts here. David Pollack joked that he's been sleeping upside down to try to stretch his frame out. He measured in at 6'2, 255. "I guess it didn't work," he said.

Jonathan Babineaux came in at 286, although he said some teams want him lighter and some teams want him heavier. The interesting part is that some teams, including the Saints even want to try him at linebacker.

Cedrick Houston has met with the Titans, Browns, Packers, Giants and Bengals.

An interesting name to look for is Tennessee Tech OT Frank Omiyale. He ran a 4.7 in the shuttle and did 22 reps on the bench. Some teams have talked to him about possibly playing guard. He's interviewed with 10 teams including the Bears, Titans, Chiefs and Jaguars.

The two Central Michigan linemen continue to impress. Adam Kieft posted a 33" vertical and Eric Ghiaciuc turned in a 5.11 forty. Kieft did have a bit of a disappointing 40 time of 5.5, but teams are still high on him.

South Carolina DE George Gause came in bigger at 275. He has met with the Vikings, Jaguars, Packers, Cowboys and Chiefs.

Shaun Cody missed his lift because he was stuck at the hospital, but will do a makeup lift tomorrow. He has talked to the Chargers, Cowboys, and Vikings.

Hey, nice 3 posts in a row... Why not just edit yours?

He didn't claim he wrote it. I never thought he did. The guy is just posting the info.

Anyway, why do I not see "has met with Miami?"

Anyone know when the scheduled meetings are?

FISHY LIKE A FOX!!!

i need more info, i aint got the nfl channel, u are my only source fellow dolfans

Alex Barron...I'm starting to want Alex Barron...man...I mean, man. He's a FREAK!

His wingspan was a full 2 or 3 inches bigger than ANYONE ELSE MEASURED...he damn near BROKE the Cybex machine which measures leg strength (unofficially broke the combine record for results on the machine, see Len Pasquarelli's combine notes), and now he has a 35" vertical???

You do realize that Chris Chambers' vertical was considered to be sick and it was like, 37 inches or something like that.

Alex Barron, the leg drive, the wingspan, the frame, the pass protection, he's got EVERYTHING you could ask for! Why is it he's being considered a mid-first round pick? Because he's not "nasty"? God, Richmond Webb was a perennial pro bowler and he was never considered "nasty"

I've changed my mind about Barron. I think he could be every bit the dominator that Walter Jones is, and maybe with the right line coaching (see Houck, Hudson) every bit the dominator that Jonathon Ogden is.

If you think he's good, wait till next year. The dolphins are bound to have a top 10 pick again, and there's going to be 4 LT that are amazing. If any one of them came out this year, they would be the #1 LT taken this year.

Pretty much, when you write a post and don't preface it that it's someone else's - you are indicating it's your post. You don't have to claim you wrote it.

By the way, did you write that quote above? I mean, you're not specifically claiming it! :shakeno:

If I'm not mistaken it was above 40.

I wish people would stop saying that as an excuse to just disregard tackle prospects in this draft, particularly Barron, who in the end may have beaten out any of the guys you are referring to as the first lineman taken in the draft even if all of them were in it. Barron was always considered a better prospect for the draft than Ferguson even when people thought Ferguson was entering. Ferguson was mounting a challenge late in the college season, however, a challenge which I personally feel Barron would have put down with the numbers that he's putting up at the combine and probably will continue to put up at his pro day. The guy I feel could have surpassed Barron is Eric Winston...but he's got injury problems and will have to make a go of it next year.

Barron stands easily shoulder to shoulder with the guys you are talking about going into the draft next year and should be evaluated as such.

I don't think so, because I'm pretty positive that Santana Moss' vertical was 41 inches, and his was like 2 inches higher than Chris Chambers' vertical which I believe was 39 inches.
