Compelling proof that Cogs is not racist -- tho he uses racial language in an NFL way

Maybe these texts were between two buds just joking around. That doesn't make it right. In any other business in the USA (except maybe pro wrestling) language like that results in automatic termination. Paula Deen said it decades ago and she got canned. Why should the Dolphins and the NFL be any different?

either way he said the N word, regardless of how he meant it...thats bad

All you guys who gave me thumbs down in that OP -- now Pouncey backs up everything I stated there. It's proven true.

And I stated that simply because I KNOW THE CONTEXT. And everyone on this board that understands the context of football -- and the context of the Phins locker room -- they didn't freak out. It's really pretty simple and evident, what happened. Martin looking for a way out and scapegoating a player/culture/team. Now it comes out. Are you guys gonna be man enough, like Cris Carter, and backtrack?

It's a weird conflict to say the least, it doesn't mean he isn't racist though.

I grew up in upstate ny, and knew lots of people who remind me of incognito, they had black friends, were fine around black people. But I still would often Hear them say racist comments, Extremely racist comments.

It's a weird dynamic, but make no mistake about it, having a black friend doesn't mean he isn't racist.

I hear it at my work all the time. They talk with black people like they are best friends but they call them the n word when they are not around. To me you are a punk ass bitch when you are like that. Cant stand fake people like that. If you are gonna feel that way fine, but man up and show it to everyone.

The problem here is it doesn't matter how the n-word was used by Incognito, Martin, Pouncey, OR how they took its meaning. The problem is how our society has determined how bad the use of the word is. We can argue all we want about what Incognito meant by its use in his texts...the simple matter is once the word is used context does not matter anymore. And he will pay whatever price the NFL and the Dolphins deem necessary to deter other players and office personnel from using it also. The road to hell is paved with good intentions, and Incognito may have been doing exactly what he was asked to do to toughen up Martin. He went about it in about the worst way imaginable as it turned out. He just doesn't get it, and he's going to lose a multi-million dollar gig and be lucky to work at McDonalds after all is said and done. Does the penalty fit the crime?? Maybe not. But, any sane individual on this board knows better than to pull this stunt in their own work environment. Why should this be any different anywhere else??

Reminds me of the story of my ex-brother-in-law. He was a prison guard in California at a max prison, I don't recall which one. Black inmate brings charges of racism against him, claiming racial slurs, racial preference and racial profiling has occurred at he hand of my ex brother-in-law who is white.

Suit has to go to court or at least a trial and my ex brother-in-law brings a picture of his black wife and mixed children into court, case dismissed.

But he was a bully however, that term just didn't exist back then or he might have been found guilty.

The truth.

I've lived inner city. Have black in-laws. Played sports. Encountered the horrid underbelly of the ghetto. Visit prisons.

Also, lived in lily-white suburbia, with all its racial myths and liberal guilt. That's what's fueling this. Not any real racism.

The people screaming about Cogs really have no clue of what is going on here, imo.

p.s. as far as "bullying" goes -- this isn't grade school. It's a freakin' GROWN MAN in a man's world we're talking about -- among modern-day gladiators, many of whom have baseline character that would keep someone from being bullied, even though they believe in having fun, etc. Using media-driven witch hunt language like RACIST BULLYING is way out of bounds, imo. Cogs may be a meathead but he ain't racist and he was trying to toughen up Martin in his own misguided way. Ain't a crime and shouldn't be treated as one, imo.
