Could Dolphins Make One Side Dominant in Offseason?

Herbert would have been the 2nd qb taken last year in the draft....I'm not sure why he's fallen from graces, but it is probably because of the PAC10 curse: no one stays awake for his games on the east coast. Same reason why most PAC10 players are underrated.

I’ve stayed up for quite a few of their games, not interested in Herbert in the first round.

I've only watched 2 or 3 games from each QB. Tua has 3 possible first round WRs, Burrow has one. I don't know that Herbert has any.

WRs are irrelevant when evaluating QBs.

Last thing I look at are the easy TDs. That’s why I wasn’t too impressed by Tua as a generational talent. However he was a talented prospect based on his ability. Certainly nothing to tank a whole season for though.

His accuracy and intangibles would show up even if he played at Rutgers.

It’s easier to evaluate a QB who doesn’t have talented players around him.

If we maintain the 2nd pick you get the kid from Ohio State, if Tua is there with the Pitts. pick you grab him or the best BPA there, and with the Houston pick the best center in the draft. This all depends on free agency before, however the first two are casted in stone

Ryan Fitzpatrick could win a super bowl with an OL, running game and defense.

So could Joe Flacco.

Nick Foles.

2018 Tom Brady had no business winning a Super Bowl.

2016 Peyton Manning, ditto.

I’d rather have a great team.

As great as Aaron Rodgers is they are getting humiliated tonight, why? Pass rushers and a running game.

I like the sound of that.

I like the ideas. I dont agree with all player u have but it would be nice to fix the offense side of ball

first we have to get the second pick, Giants have it as of now with the sos

I we are in top 3, we will get either Young or Thomas. I'm guessing Young if we are at #2.

Where it gets harder is if we are at #4 or #5. After the top 3, there is little consensus.

It is possible that we'd take the top WR (Jeudy), S (Delpit), or CB (Okudah), but I hope not... so at this point, we'd likely do Herbert or the DE2 (likely Espenza) or trade down.

This GETS a LOT easier if we are #2 or #3. That is the point where need meets BPA.

I'm pretty okay with the looks of that. Maybe a tweak here or there, or some guys wont get to our picks / sign elsewhere.

If we were to draft Herbert, you have to hope we can coach him up. He's got serious tools to work with. I'd like to swing for the fences at QB. Tua or Herbert

We have way to many holes to do this.
We must take BPA.We can't afford to miss on any of our first or second round picks.
I don't think that is realiatic.

Having a large # of picks means more chances to hit, but the converse is also true.

I actually like this idea. I think there is more offensive talent draft wise than defensive talent. That said, if Chase Young is available, we take him.
The FA will determine our draft strategy, as it usually does. I would be happy though to draft offence this year, with the odd defensive player as well. I do like Ruggs in the 1st round, he has the best hands in the draft.

Derrick Henry I have never been a fan of, but the past 15 months he has been brilliant. I wouldn't over pay for him though. A new starting centre, guard and tackle is also needed.

Solid idea though.

With the number of needs we have simply stick to BPA including QB but I'm not sold on Herbert or Tua.
Would look at a RB but only from R3 as Ballage has made little impact and the others are yet to get any solid playing time. Only do so after reinforcing the OL thro draft or FA as a useful running game would take the pressure off whoever is at QB. This year we have been a bit one dimensional.

I know hearing the word dominant can cause a few snickers around here, or worse yet images of the New England Patriots. But with cash to spend and draft picks galore, can the Miami Dolphins get there in one offseason, at least on one side of the ball? I'm a defensive first guy, but I think the most work needs to be done on the offensive side, especially when you consider Miami most likely has a new quarterback in 2020. And, most likely, a high draft pick at the position.

So, for the sake of discussion here are some thoughts on how to get in done on offense with the concentration of draft picks and free agent dollars going there.

Free agency --- big three adds --- Brandon Scherff, OG/OT, Derrick Henry RB, Joe Thuney, OG.

Draft (first two rounds)
1. Justin Herbert, QB
1. Henry Ruggs III, Wr
1. Creed Humphrey, C
2. Travis Etienne, RB
2. Trey Adams, OT

Offensive line: Adams, LT, Deiter, LG, Humphrey C, Thuney OG, Scherff, RT (Davis, Calhoun, Boehm, Prince top backups)
Quarterbacks: Herbert, Fitzpatrick, Rosen
Running Backs: Henry, Etienne, Laird, Cox, Gaskins
Wide Receivers: Parker, Williams, Ruggs, Grant, Hurd
Tight Ends: Gesicki, Smythe, Walford

Thoughts, other ideas. Would welcome discussion on defense as well.
I think as much as we like Schereff he's not leaving the skins. He will be tagged for sure as they're already losing their LT
I don't believe they'll go after Henry either tho he's a good player. We'll probably draft a RB. Who we take with our top pick might determine what we do next but I don't see Flores wanting 5 offensive players with our first 5 picks.

Thanks for your effort tho.
