Could The Dolphins OL Be Worse This Year?

All of this just goes to show that asking about the OL at this point isn't a good idea considering the team isn't finished building it.
THIS !!!!
I agree 1000%. It's pointless at this time to try and guess at what upgrades are yet to come. Maybe we make a trade, maybe we pick someone off the scrape heap, but the one thing I think we all can agree on is that the players we now have on the team are not the players that will start the season on the OL

I might get flamed for this but I can where we could bring back Richie or Jerry after the smoke clears a bit. We will be able to get them for league min and no one else is gonna touch them. Martin was the problem more than either of them, so after the draft they will be sitting there figuring their playing days are over. Either of them would be a considerable upgrade over what we have and we could get them for league min.

Last season they set the record for all time worst Dolphins Oline play

If they play any worst this season, then we will be talking about the NEW Head Coach next year not about how much better or worst the Oline can play. :d-day:

This year OL was the worse OL i ever seen, even worse then the 1-15 season. And that OL was widely considered the worse OL in NFL history.

Then maybe you should become a OL coach, because those who get paid 6 figures to decide who plays OL for the rams decided he was good enough to sit on the bench behind some very average players. After his trip to the probowl this year you can sit back and say "I told ya so", but until then you will have to forgive me if I take the actions of the OL coaches that saw him every day for months over what you saw on two game tapes. :rolleyes2:

I cant argue what I saw versus what you havent seen, trusting that because someone that is paid to be an Oline coach cant be wrong about a player. If we are not going to speculate that a coach on another team might be wrong then I guess we cant argue anything. Also if a player that was a previously a bench player gets a starting spot and makes the probowl then it will be the first time in league history that it has ever happened.

BTW, it was the Seattle game and TB game that I saw. It was in the latter part of the season, maybe weeks 15 or 16. If anyone wants to watch it and give their 2 cents, go for it.

Not for nothin but you're giving off the same Brandon Gibson "Rams didn't want him, nobody wanted him, he's not as good as Amendola, we don't need him, he's not as good as who he'll be replacing ad nauseum (and dead wrong) vibe you bullheadedly locked into last time around :idk:

Well I accepted I was wrong about Gibson but still doesn't mean my point is less valid. I mean in your world if I have been wrong on a player Im wrong on everything so it really doesn't matter. Smith couldn't crack a bad line.I still say Gibson is not better than Amendola healthy.
Gibson played well for us and was a pleasant surprise but that doesn't mean every teams backup will be good. I mean you have to have an opinion one way or another but your always bringing up the same crap that's you. Hell to you it doesn't even matter if your lying about what I said as you have many times about Cameron Wake .Im pretty sure every year people have opinions on players for whatever reason and they are right or wrong. Im pretty damn sure I have not been wronf any more than most on this board. I don't go around looking for all the people that said Ginn was a better prospect or player than Desean Jackson or the people that said John beck was going to be so good. Ellerbee was horrible last year and I was pretty damn right on him. Mckinnie horrible. Jordan made little to no impact as a 3rd pick in draft and the draft class year one did very little. Will I be wrong in long run maybe, but your same tune is beyond silly. In fact I find it more to the level of trying to attack the poster since you really made no effort to talk about whether he is good or bad but of course you can do whatever you want on this board because of whatever reasons.

I dont know why you are getting so defensive. I was clear about what I gained from watching two games. 2 games tells a lot. I watched every snap that he played and focused on him the player, not just the rams as a whole. Ive also seen every play Jerry has played and I know that he does not fit here in Miami. Im not sure where the comment about him being the answer because we signed him comes from. I think he will be a strarter based on what we have and what his skill sets are.

Wasnt being defensive. My comment about being the answer wasn't directed at u, its just common among many posters that everyone we sign will be awesome. Smith may do well but based on his contract and age, the rest of the league does not agree . Hell not one team in the NFL including the dolphins thought Cameron Wake was going to a pro bowler and yet he became one so that's not something written in stone. I just don't see Smith as an upgrade to wither of our guards but maybe our scheme makes him better.

as bad as we were this year or that year neither line was the worst in NFL history. Besides PFF said they were average lol.

it's impossible, Miami had the worst OL in the history of the sport last year. Poor Ryan didn't have a chance.

Don't you have work to do instead of trying to start a **** flinging contest? The line was the worst in team history, at least to those who understand numbers.

For those who believe that sacks are the only thing that matters, this is not a thread for you, as it is about the 684 pass play Miami had last year, and not only the 41 where the OL allowed a sack.

Anyone thinking we are getting 2 or, possibly 3 starters from the draft is not being realistic. And IF we have 2 rookie starters, we could very well be worse on the OL this year. JMO

What I think is that you should lower your expectations, and maybe you won't panic. We won't be horrible, but don't expect them to hit it out of the park, either. It's a work in progress.

We haven't finished putting the line together. Go on what you do know, rather than the unknowns.

Known: Martin's poor performance is over with.
Known: Incognito's distracting behavior is over with.
Known: We have a superior LT, who is also a quiet leader.
Known: We retained our center, a key position.
Known: We picked up a solid guard who fits the scheme, and can run block.

That's a start.

I have a good feeling about our new O line coach. I think that's a real positive change.

Funny cuz some Jets fans maintain that our '13 line was better than what buttfumble had to work with in '12. However the reality is that despite buttfumble ranking 32nd out of 34 QBs in the "no axes2grind" PFF evaluation, the jest OL was actually ranked by them #3 and by all rights should have been asset to "The Turnover King." Just imagine how abysmal he'd have been if they were a Fins-level liability :idk:

albert-shelley smith-pouncey-?-zach martin...how the hell could that be WORSE than last year? also draft a rb that actually has vision and can make something out of nothing and the oline will be fine.

 Smith is a downgrade to either of our guards from last year, Zach Martin isn't no where near a lock that he will be there when we pick or that he will be our pick, and even if we do get him, 1st rd picks that start from day one are usually not very good in the first half of the season. As of right now we have one upgrade (who is not nearly as good as many are making him out to be) and three downgrades.

I think Ryan will be better at getting rid of the ball to avoid the number of sacks he took last year, but I still believe we will be in the top 3-5 in the league in sacks given up, unless we add some major pieces besides the draft.
