Hi guys. Ive heard people say lets get rid of Mare because he is getting on a bit etc. Well if we do i say we go after Todd France. Tampa Bay Bucks Kicker. He is in Europe right now for all that dont know and he is hitting everything. 54 yarder today vs Berlin.

If he is let go by Tampa i say we get him locked up on a deal and let mare go.

Thoughts?

that guy missed a 50 yarder last week that didnt even cross the end zone. theres a reason that guys in europe

I'm not sure, but I know kickers usually stick around to play till there early 40's, usually 42 or 43.

Age isn't the problem, his inconsistency is. He hasn't played at a top level since Doug Blevins left three to four years ago.

We can't cut Mare. He would be too much of a big hit on our cap. Can't remember the exact # right now, but the last time this was brought up that is was what came of that thread.

And believe me I'm no Mare fan.

you can't expect kickers to be consistent forever, especially when they are hampered by injuries, I believe if Mare can fully recover, he will be what he once was....although I must admit I belive he needs to re-work his contract.

He needs his old coach back. He's got talent, but talent without development doesn't cut it.

I say we hang on to what we have. Mare is a proven kicker. We just need to make sure the Marlins are done playing baseball as soon as possible.

mare, was injured and he is an up and down player, i have a feeling this is an up year for him

We can't get rid of Olindo Mare for the simple fact that we can't get anyone better to replace him as of now. Wait a year, I believe that's when his contract ends up... than we good start looking elsewhere for a kicker and hopefully there will be more options than.

How old is mare?

Hes only 31 but he hasnt been a Pro Bowl caliber kicker since 2002!

For a kicker his cap number is pretty high.

If he doesnt produce this year hes a goner!
