Cut Mare - Sign France?

Age isn't the problem, his inconsistency is. He hasn't played at a top level since Doug Blevins left three to four years ago.

what? he had a couple of misses in the dirt and hurt his calf and now he's washed up. you guys amaze me. I guess you forget what it's like to have a crap kicker. ask the jets last year. The kicker is very important. If it's not broken don't fix it. :yell:

We can't cut Mare. He would be too much of a big hit on our cap. Can't remember the exact # right now, but the last time this was brought up that is was what came of that thread.

ding ding ding

You can cut mare...he is getting to old, hes not as accurate, and hes staring to get alot of injuries
But DONT bring in France pick up a fa or something but noone from Europe who isnt that good.

I don't know if I want anybody named "France" on my team...the guy will probably surrender when he feels some pressure...

can't be any worse then having a guy named Nugent, as in "chicken" nugent.

Why would we even dumb Mare for a Europe kicker for?....It doesnt make any sense on why you thought this up.

And If He Is On The Practice Squad He Is Fair Game For The Whole League

Haaaaaaaaaaa The Guy May Quit In The Heat Of Battle........

Three misses in 2003 cost us two games (Houston / NE). A win in either of those games would have put us in the playoffs and given us an 11-5 season.

I'm not saying to cut him to sign whoever this nobody is the original poster suggested. I'm saying Mare hasn't performed and is a disappointement.

In about 6 years I will be calling for the Phins to draft my little cousin! He is a lifelong soccer player who has taken up feild goal kicking thanks to his coach. I know I am biased but so far he is perfect on kicks from 50+ yards (4-4) Not bad for a 16 year old!

Yes he is not perfect didn't he help us win the Browns game last year with a 50 yarder??

Also when healthy he can lead the NFL in touchbacks as he did in 2003. He might not be the top 3 kicker he once was but I still think he is a top 10-15 kicker

A certain Pats kicker has made it big in the NFL after being in Europe. France could be the new AV?:D

Had I responded w/o doing my homework.....I would have dismissed this thread as complete garbage. BUT......

I took a look at how Olindo stacks up against the other kickers in the league, and to my surprise, the answer is, NOT TOO WELL.

Out of the 29 kickers that have been in the top-30 for FG's made in at least 2 of the last 3 years (stats were limited by what NFL.com provides, but I think this includes every kicker of note for that period)......Mare ranks at #22. 22!!!

So going by the last 3 years......we are in the bottom third of the league as far as out Kicker goes.

So, while I don't condone scrapping Mare for a NFL Europe player....I do think that he is on the hot seat this year, and I wouldn't mind seeing some serious competition brought into camp for the spot.

Here's the numbers:

Hi guys. Ive heard people say lets get rid of Mare because he is getting on a bit etc. Well if we do i say we go after Todd France. Tampa Bay Bucks Kicker. He is in Europe right now for all that dont know and he is hitting everything. 54 yarder today vs Berlin.

If he is let go by Tampa i say we get him locked up on a deal and let mare go.

Thoughts?

You don't get rid of a proven NFL kicker for a unproven NFLE kicker :shakeno:
