Dan Marino's Restaurant

I deal with all the Marino's resturants... the only ones open right now are in Miami (Sunset Place), Coral Springs, St. Pete, and Vegas... The one in Orlando is closed at the moment but I think will open again... About the Vegas local and its memorabilia... I remember thinking when I took their order that there wasnt as much as I would think, but hey, its expensive stuff...

I believe the one at Disney's Swan Resort is a bit nicer.
I've been to the one at the Swan and like the other poster said, it was just awesome. Although everything is a A La Carte and you're gonna pay $7 for a baked potato and $9 for a freaking salad, it's worth it. The service and the food was second to none....and the memorabilia, PRICELESS! Just beautiful. Although expensive, every Dolphin fan needs to go, at least once.

How can anyone actually WANT to pay these prices? I mean, I'm all about supporting the Fins and think Shula was the greatest coach to ever live and all that, but $40 for a steak??? Honestly, give me Outback anyday...

please you think thats expensive thats nothing compared to a lot of the places in vegas

Honestly, I'ld much rather not throw away my money, even if it is for a "great tasting steak." At the end of the day, you're paying a very high premium on that steak. The costs are no where near the actual prices they charge. The markup is huge and the only reason it is not lower is because most people don't mind paying that much just to be surrounded by two wall hanging memorabilia pieces and be able to say they ate at Shula's or Marino's. I'ld rather eat at a place where the food is comparable and the markup is not as outrageous. I'll survive if I'm surrounding by hanging lobsters, kangaroo's or olives vs Marino jerseys and Shula pictures.

No knock on those who like paying that much and eating at those restaurants. Everyone works hard for their money and should spend it exactly how they want. It's just not for me.

My experience going to a Dan Marino's restaraunt was not very good. It was very crowded but you'd think they would have a game plan figured out for that. The wait was over 2 hours to get a table and once we were finally seated the service was horrible. I overheard many unsatified customers (not with our party) complaining that it was not worth coming back.

To make matters worse, we had to wait about another hour to get the food served. Then the waitress ended up dumping most of it on the floor which meant another long wait to get fresh food.

Because Shula's makes Outback look like Burger King lol. It's worth every bit. I got the 32 oz prime rib and it was prolly the best thing i will ever taste. Add that to the service and the atmosphere and in my opinion it is worth it.

That's my point, I'd rather go to sizzler or Outback, It's the same steak, bitten and pissed by rats and walked on by ****roaches.

I have been to Marino's in St. Pete (Tampa). Same thing as a lot of you above have said - put my love for Marino aside - his is one of the BEST places I have ever eaten at (in that price range). You can not compare it to a 5 star gourmet joint, but for what it is - IT IS GREAT.

The Chop Chop salad is awesome. I have had burgers, chicken, steak, I have eaten lunch there and dinner there. The service is top notch and the food is very, very, good. My wife also loved it as well as my sister-in-law and brother-in-law (and those two are Bucs fans).

If you are in Tampa or Miami (or Vegas) I would say you definitely need to go. Lunch prices are VERY resonable. I was there last week and paid about $20 for lunch and it was perfect.

At outback or sizzler's you are not going to get USDA prime steaks. Probably select or choice. There is a huge difference between prime and choice, with only like 1% of all beef being labeled prime, and yes there is a difference in taste, texture, and tenderness.

www.lobels.com is one of the better known mail order places, look at their prices for unprepared meat.

If you don't want to pay for good meat, fine, nobody is forcing you to. But at some places the markup is not that great, the meat is worth it. If you have the money for it, great, go for it. I treat myself out to some once in a while, it is worth it IMO.

LOL at someone comparing the quality of the meat at Sizzler even to Outback, let alone a place like Shula's.

The quality of the beef at Outback puts Sizzler to shame, and the quality at the Shula's, Ruth's Chris's and Morton's of the world put Outback's quality to shame. Not by as large a margin as the difference between Sizzler and Outback, but close enough.

The real upper scale steakhouses all serve aged corn fed beef, not the USDA select or worse stuff you can buy in any grocery store. Sizzler's meat would barely qualify as USDA choice, and on top of that, the best cut they have there is friggin' Top Sirloin. It aint like you are going to find a Rib Eye, New York, or Filet Mignon there. If you are down for Sizzler, you might as well just pour some A-1 on a piece of leather, go to town and save yourself some money.

Everything is relative. You want to talk about things like 40 dollar steaks being ridiculous, but how about some of the other crap people waste money on? People drop a couple grand on trivial things like aftermarket wheels for their car, yet do they really do anything different from the factory ones that come on the car?
