Truly, the only poetic justice to come from this would be Ireland being fired.
Such a messed up talent evaluator to spend a second round pick on a glorified baby and then depend on him to play the most important position on the OL when he is physically and mentally the weakest link.
If Ireland loses his job over Martin, I say poetic justice. He foisted this steaming sack of crap on the whole organization.
His idea of a good draft pick and a good player. Uh huh.
A street-wise friend once gave me some everlasting advice: NEVER DOUBLE DOWN ON A BAD DECISION, EXPECTING IT TO GET BETTER.
He called me a fool more than once for this -- and I finally learned. He was right.
Never double down on a bad decision -- be it a sandwich you ordered or a business decision, etc. Take one bite and throw the sandwich or plate of food away, if it's no good. Cut the decision off at the knees, if it's bad. Better a penny than a pound lost.
Picking Martin: idiotic. Doubling down on Martin's poor play and persona and expecting him to solidify LT: Mind-numbingly, colossally, epically idiotic. Organization destroying dumbness.
Ireland was in over his head. And nothing makes that clearer than Joni Martin. And so few playmakers at skill positions, and poor depth across the board.
