Davone Bess is expected to remain the Dolphins' primary punt returner.

With all that speed, is Sparano really not pleased enough this camp with our other potential punt returners to even have a competition? Davone's a great player, but no one is afraid of him returning punts.
 
This news is in keeping with the conservative nature of this coaching staff and regime. Bess probably wont make alot of mistakes(fumbles, backing up to reverse field inside the 20), but also isnt any kind of legitimate threat
 
Really??? Bush is one of those few guys that is a threat to take it to the house each time he returns it. Now does that happen every time ? No, but it's a fear that other teams have to respect and worry about because it does happen. Bess, despite being a great WR and sure handed guy, just isn't a threat to take it back all the way. Why get Bush in the first place if you are not going to utilize his talents the correct way? First we want to try and make him an every down back and then we won't put him back on PR unless we have to???? Where's the palm in face icon when you need it!
 
I'm ok with Bess/Reggie on punts and Gates on kickoffs . . . I think that is appropriate. As long as it isn't Bess by himself on punts and Patrick Cobbs on kickoffs I am good.
 
God I can't wait till Sporano is gone next year..I'm actually surprised we don't have an o-lineman back there returning kicks..Just stupid to have Bess back there,he runs like 5 yards and that's it..woohoooo 5 yards!!!, fist pump!.:rolleyes:

Agreed, but I will tell you think much, If T.S. doesnt line up Sheets atleast once in preseason as a returner, it will be a huge mistake.
Sheets is as fast and as bursty as anyone i have seen play for he fins.

Bess is a safe choice for a a punt returner. He alsmot never fumbles, very sure handed, and doesn't ever lose yards. The downside is that he isn't a guy that can make a few people miss and take it to the house. He will occasionally break off a 20+ yard return, but isn't a real threat to score.

Almost never fumbles?
2nd most in the league with 3 fumbles
and his 20 fair catches was also 2nd most in the league

This position should have been upgraded
 
Only in Finheaven will people complain about a top 8 punt return man in the NFL keeping his job as the returner.
 
Consider me disappointed with all the new speed we added.

Where was he fair catching the ball? I seriously am asking, You have to keep it in perspective. If the opponent is punting from around the 50 yard line, there will be alot of fair catches. How many of those fair catches can actually be returned?
