Day 2 Morning Tweets

She isn't a Pitbull she is a idiot! I lived in Cleveland when she was there she was a total train wreck. Look how she screwed up basic math on cutting Porter.

LOL, you mad bro? Don't know why fans get so invested in the business when you get same amount of money however and wherever the chip falls.

Man i was glad to see a 9 page thread about todays practice when I logged in. turns out there's about 6 posts in the whole thread about it. Go figure.

anyways, sounds like Garrard is the better looking QB in the early stages, good for him. Our offense seems to be gaining chunks of yards, I like it!
Exactly, I'm noticing every thread here is like this. Three post on topic then same people bitching about something and getting stuck on it. Not much knowledge, just chatter.

One of the many reasons why I'm glad that Hard Knocks is in Miami this year is because we will actually get to see and hear what is going on behind the scenes, and more specifically with this whole Tannehill business.

People can speculate all they want but the cameras are rolling and we will see the truth in one of these episodes.

Look at what they covered with Revis. They didn't hide anything, showing the Jets organization looking like desperate idiots crawling back to that ego maniac and giving in to his demands.

With all the theories and stories the media and fans like to make up finally for once we will get the whole picture.

Not mad just a realist and place blame where it belongs. Some fans are sick of losing and a three ring circus in the front office. You are right fans get the same amount of money well unless they bet on games, but fans have passion for their team and that makes them want what is best. Bottomline, if Tannehill is the QB they claim when they drafted him then there is no need to have that language in the contract. If he isn't then they are all fired!

Incidentally to the best of my recollection the Dolphins suffered no penalties as a result of Aponte's gaffe with Joey Porter. She tried to send a contract termination into the NFL head office and the NFL head office rejected it because it would have put us over the salary cap for the current year. She had to wait until the new (uncapped) league year began to get it done.

Was it a pretty embarrassing gaffe for a team-described "capologist"? You bet. Pretty embarrassing. But did it cost the team in any way? No.

To be honest I'm a little uncomfortable with some of the misogyny in this thread. As I said, the above move was a pretty embarrassing gaffe for someone who just came from the league management council and is serving as a "capologist" and should therefore know these things, but I honestly have NO OTHER DATA POINTS WHATSOEVER that suggest Dawn Aponte is bad at what she does. She might be. I'm just saying I've got no idea whether she's bad at her job or not and I doubt very much that 90% of the people badmouthing her do either.

As for the whole offset language thing being blamed on her, I find that a little convenient. You have to remember that little bit of "reporting" was described right there in the piece that started it all as SPECULATION based on two things: 1) a RUMOR circulating amongst agents that the NFL head office is trying to lean on teams to stick to their guns on the offset issue, and 2) the fact that Dawn Aponte's immediate job prior to the Dolphins was working in the league management council.

It was speculation based on a rumor, put together with a circumstance. Total speculation. Yet people have run with it as if there's a source confirming it, when it's not true. Sources have confirmed that the Dolphins want the offset language but there's no source that says Dawn Aponte has been the driving force behind that.

Remember that Jeff Ireland has the ability to snap his fingers and get that contract signed at any moment.

Ummm no Ck her immediate job prior to coming to the Miami Dolphins was working in the very same position with the Cleveland Browns. I will provide her BIO from the Dolphins as proof. Many thought she would take over as Browns GM, but got herself fired over how she handled Cribbs. Before the Browns she did work for the league for 3 years and before that the Jets for 15 years. I am still sure you say her name in a Browns bar in Cleveland and it starts a bar fight they hate her there.

Although, you are correct about Aponte's previous job being with the Browns, that fact still doesn't invalidate CK's original point. The source of everyone's ire, the assertion that she's digging her heals in comes from a ProFootballTalk post that says (emphasis mine):

"Per the source, the team’s insistence is believed to be coming from V.P. of administration Dawn Aponte, who once worked for the league’s management council. It’s believed that teams are pushing for offset language at the specific direction of the NFL’s governing body."

So, in essence, we are directing our anger towards accusations levied from a "source" that "believes" that she is the problem. That's not even one sketchy piece of reporting, that's two. To say definitively that it is Aponte creating this situation, based off of a source that is often panned on this website, is self-serving at best. We don't know if Aponte helped orchestrate the team-friendly Cameron Wake and Paul Soliai deals and we don't know if she's the one digging her feet in on Tannehill's contract. I would therefore warn against making speculative judgments on something we have absolutely no info on. No need to crucify a woman doing her job using some seriously overreaching logic. Just my thoughts.

This statement is ridiculous.

Then I take it you have been to a Browns bar in Cleveland because ridiculous is the general behavior. This is the town that has managed to have players removed from the field for their safety multiple times. Mini wooden bat and .05 cent draft night at the old Municipal Stadium with a very bad Indians team who would have thought that was a bad idea.

Well I don't believe in coincidence and this is the deal today or Sept mentality has surfaced several times as her negotiating tactic. As far as the league telling the Dolphins to stick to their guns I just don't buy it. Imagine the ramification if the league sticks its nose in our business while the Colts, and Redskins don't use the language and the league did nothing. The problem isn't so much Apante, but negotiating tactic her, Ireland and previously Tuna use year after year it is a black eye to the franchise. Ireland models himself as a Mini Tuna, but fails to notice the league has changed and the my way or the highway mentality doesn't win Championships. Ironically that very menality is why Parcells left the Giants and Patriots and when he was given the ability to use it he had very little success. Look at Tom Coughlin no sooner did he drop that mentality and he won multiple Superbowls.

Was looking for a more in depth account of Day 2's practice. Found a good write up on Phinsider.com. Apparently Devlin looked great!!!

Is this thread about Aponte or morning tweets? ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

I call bs. You want to blame aponte so you have. based upon a shoddy report. If there was another shoddy report absolving aponte, you'd spin it around and still make it her fault. Point is there is no "winning" with you, you're gonna believe what you want reports be damned.

Same with you! When have you ever come off your point of view? Under the old cba when a qb drafted in the top 10 had a much higher implication to the cap I could see the need for this, but with todays cba it makes no sense. He is your guy, you came out on draft day claiming you wanted him as the future from very early on. So why the need for a out clause? He fails you are fired! I doubt Ross was the reason.

Lol. show me where I haven't? I'm one of the most flexible guys around here. I see something that changes my mind I don't have a problem admitting it. I completely agreed this organization needed to "open" up and I am and was highly critical of the treatment of zach, jason, bell, etc. I think how they have treated vetern players in the past is more of a problem than how they treat rookies. At the same time if you're referring to my stance as to when and how long jeff has actually had complete control, i've yet to see a copy of the contract other than what CK references from florio. Show me the contract and the language saying jeff was bill parcell's boss and i'll change my tune on that.

You're barking up the wrong tree accusing me of being infleixable on both opinions and reason, I'm probably the most flexible guy on the staff.
