Deal of the century

I don't think I have the energy to do all of that but I would like to threaten them with cancellation so I can save money so I'm at a crossroads.

Been playing the "i think im just gonna cancel unless you can sweeten the deal" game for years. Ive never paid for the ticket, its always free. Nice work!

I switched back to cable as well. The problem I had with the service was the poor reception during stormy weather which happens a lot in south Florida.

I've had DirecTV for years, and I can only remember 2 instances where weather prevented me from getting a signal - one of those instances was a tropical storm. Even during severe thunderstorms, I have no problem getting a perfect signal. On the other hand, I also have half of my house wired for Brighthouse and the reception on those cable boxes often freezes and requires resetting. Bottom line is I have had more problems with grounded connections than I have had with satellite.

Last yr I called to cancel and received the ticket for free...this was the first time I had the opportunity to watch all the games, I loved it....you're not stuck watching the network games so you always get the best match ups....my favorite is when two games are close with two minutes left, put them both on the screen side by side and not miss a play....once I return from vacation I will try to get it again but I don't want to pay 250 bucks

Thanks for the post on the subject, always good going into negotiations with some background.....

DirecTV acts like a dealer in that they just keep putting you on the teet hoping that you get hooked. It's why they allowed Streaming on Playstation for 1 year only....then pulled the rug up from everybody. NFL needs to cut the exclusive partner crap out.

I'm tired of reading these type of threads each year with cheap people b****ing about the cost of Sunday ticket, etc. etc.

1. $300 IS NOT a lot of money for the ticket. it costs more than that to attend ONE NFL game in any city. For $300 you get to sit on your rear end and watch ANY game, every week (unless your local team isn't sold out).
2. Stop with the monopoly garbage, it's not a monopoly. Learn what that word means in its legal definition.
3. The NFL doesn't care what you think about your cable company and offering it on demand. The NFL and it's business decisions are much smarter than what you can conger up on a forum. They know all of their options and how much money and exposure it will get them. The NFL ALWAYS chooses the option that nets them the most bank and exposure. It's been DirecTV for years, so what does that tell you?
4. Sunday ticket is going nowhere, plan to hear an announcement soon that the contract will be re-upped with them and the NFL. They are just waiting for the DirecTV/AT&T deal to completely finalize.
5. Anyone who truly thinks Comcast or Time Warner provides better service, overall, to every customer across the country, not just your experience which has been good, is dreaming. For those who want to cry about the monopoly idea, Comcast fits that bill even more than DirecTV...hence why Comcast continues to buy everything up and expand its empire. Do you know that in my area of MD the ONLY option for high speed internet is Comcast (and I don't live in the sticks). THAT is a monopoly, and why I am still paying a ridiculous cost of $66 a month for internet service, there are 0 alternatives.

I'm sorry if this is harsh to some, but every year there are threads here with people complaining because they don't' want to spend $300 on an NFL package. DirecTV has lowered the price the last two years and as I already stated, it's already a decent deal. If you don't think it is, fine, don't pay it, but also don't cry about it being overpriced because you refuse to pay it or can't afford it. But yet this seems like the american way now: I don't like it or can't afford it, so I'm going to cry it's unfair and I should be given it for free/cheaper.

AND...if you order the NFL Ticket for your TV only- no option for smart phones, other mobile devices, it's only $199 for the whole thing. That's what I do. DVR it, come in 45mins late, and skip the commercials. Or even later- my son plays football, and his games are always Sunday afternoons. I love zipping home from his games, grabbing some food, and then turning on the Dolphins.
And trust me, living in Pennsylvania, 200$ is well worth it to see the Phins every week, guaranteed. Plus, you get any other game you want to boot when Miami plays Thurs night or is on a bye.

I had Sunday Ticket even before stationary dishes came out.
I ordered an analog dish one season before small stationary dishes were available. I paid close to $3,000 for that dish and receiver just to watch the fins.

Been about 20 years ago.

So I also wonder why all the bitching

Just called and tried it. This is what I got.

1. 1/2 off Sunday Ticket Max
2. First Months payment of Sunday Ticket Max paid for me.
3. $15 off my bill for the entire year.
4. 3 months of HBO, Showtime, and Cinemax.

Thanks for the advice!

Direct TV is so greedy and i hope someone finds a way to break up this monopoly that they have. Easily could have team packages you could buy since i really only want to watch Fins games and nothing else really so why do I need to pay 300 dollars a month for something i only want a piece of. Just a bunch of greedy bastards if you ask me.

I would love it if there was a team package for games. And it would be awesome if there was a channel that was all dolphins all day. Stats, highlights, legends,SB Games, and then the season games, playoffs. Insider VIP of your favorite team. I canceled my DTV. Now that I have twins games are going to be somewhere else. It will get too loud over here. Plus I get out of the house. Not to far cause I will be intoxicated and do not drive drunk. I am so pumped up for this year. Just a couple more weeks. Oh yeah. Dolphins.

I am getting Sunday ticket free this season. Of course it will be hard to discontinue the service as I anticipate. But I said ok to the offer with 10 dollars off my bill to boot. Then I found out what U-verse was doing. They are in the same company (at&t and Uverse). I don't have access to U-verse tv yet as I was promised to get it 2 years ago.

Yeah, if you want to see a football game in 13 pixels.

Im guessing you have either bad internet or a bad computer. I don't get hd reception, but it is definitely better than waiting for sportscenter to see the highlights.

I ordered an analog dish one season before small stationary dishes were available.

My Dad had one of those large dishes that he used with free to air satellite receiver. He could pickup all kinds of channels in the Middle East for free.
But since they live in the woods the only place he could get good signal quality was with the Dish right near the sidewalk to the front door.
My mom hated it. When my dad died about a month ago the 1st thing my mom wanted done was to get that damn thing out of the front of the house.
My brothers and I moved it to the back where my brother chopped it up for scrap aluminum.

This only works if you're currently on a month to month with them, and not in contract. If you threaten to leave while in contract, they will just send you to collecrions.
