I saw it mentioned in another thread about cutting Wake before the 2015 season and it gave me an idea...

If Vernon continues to play at the level he is for the remainder of the season, and Dion Jordan continues to develop, could the Dolphins deal Wake?

I love Wake and he has consistently been one of the defender in the NFL, but he is getting older and would have a pretty high trade value. With a plethora od holes to fill in the off season and having an extra (or couple of extra) early picks could be beneficial to filling those holes.

Second question.....what is his trade value?

Not a fan of trading away our best pass rusher. He's been fighting back from an earlier leg injury and is clearly not 100%. The minute his production drops a little bit ( totally because of health issues ) these threads appear. We're very lucky he's on our team. Let's keep it that way. I think he's our best player.

This defense depends way too much on pressure to rely on Olivier Vernon (a career long run stopper who is flashing a strong bull rush this year) and Dion Jordan (not a full time DE and needs a strong offseason workout program to get where he needs to be) to be the primary DE's on this defense. Wake is a Beast, best DE on this team, who seems to be held up by some nagging injuries. He only makes around 6 million next year . . . peanuts for a guy of his caliber.

His trade value is probably around a late 2nd round pick to a contending team. Nobody would give up a first for him with his lingering knee issues and age.

Amen!

Some of the people on this board just make me LOL

Do NOT trade your best defensive player.

He's not...

Just throwing out a suggestion, due to his age and eventual drop is production and the amount of other talent the team has at DE....the one thing good team do is knowing when to move on from a player before their ability drop off becomes a liability.

I echo the chorus. You can't trade your best player...unless someone offers us a 1st and a 2nd.

A 1st round pick....then yeah I'd say that's hard to turn down.....but finding a player of his caliber in their prime is hard to do! We are trying to win while he's in his prime not ship him off to compete for another contender in his prime!!

Why, he's not been the best player this season, he's going to be 32 next season and he has considerable trade value. The Dolphins are deep at the position with plenty of young talent while they are weak in many other area's.

you can trade him if you're not going anywhere...aka Browns, but we are in the playoff hunt for the next several years ( or more).

don't even entertain it til jordan proves he's gonna be a year in year our double digit sack artist...not necessarily by numbers but by rush arsenal and growth...

the earliest i would consider this would be after next season...and jordan gonna have to make some serious strides next season

He's not in his prime, he's on the tail end (age), do you think he's going to still have the explosion he had last season when he's 33, 34, 35?

i don't know if you can say he is "in his prime". Alot depends on how he recovers from these nagging injuries and age always plays a factor. We may never see Cam Wake at the level he was in 2010/2011 . . . that was his prime.

Still he's a damn good player in 2013.

I think trading him would be a big mistake, I'm hoping our dline stays enact aside from resigning Starks. (I'd rather resign soliai) also I remember wake signed a very cap friendly contract, which he probably got ripped off on. I vote no on getting rid of one of the best pass rushers in the game whose getting paid like an average DE
