Dealing Wake in the off-season....

Dynasty type teams trade dominate players for high value right before the bottom falls out.

Maybe a 2nd, but I doubt it.

I think trading him would be a big mistake, I'm hoping our dline stays enact aside from resigning Starks. (I'd rather resign soliai) also I remember wake signed a very cap friendly contract, which he probably got ripped off on. I vote no on getting rid of one of the best pass rushers in the game whose getting paid like an average DE

He will make a little over 5 million next season, that number jumps to over 8 in 2015...he signed a cap friendly contract due to his age

i don't see any fall off with wake yet...i see a guy who got injured and took a while to get back to form...but not fall off

i don't see any reason right now to think the end is near either...

I'd hate to see it happen, but with this staff you never know...Some of you are saying "don't trade your best player" but they traded or let walk three of our best players already (Marshall, Bush, Dansby).

Never say never with this staff. Still, I hope we keep Cam Wake.

also when he does fall off you can make him a situational rusher instead of a starter and still get bang for your buck...

Why, he's not been the best player this season, he's going to be 32 next season and he has considerable trade value. The Dolphins are deep at the position with plenty of young talent while they are weak in many other area's.
Hey, your being too logical. He's also one of the fanbase's favorite players and we still wear the scars for trading away Wes Welker.

Also, I'd be a little pissed if we traded him. Just like with Bush. They moved up to take D. Thomas (and D. Jordan) to draft positions that were already stable, that's called wasted draft picks x2 (the pick used to trade up and the actual pick used to draft a position that was not a weakness) Hopefully D. Jordan is a baller and we keep Wake (who is already a baller).

no reason to trade wake. he's one of the few leaders we have in that locker room, and not to mention an incredible asset to our defense. I can't imagine why people even entertain the idea. He should retire a phin IMO. I'd be offended by our FO if we traded him.

I've never been a fan of getting rid of your best player. I'm a big believer in Vernon and Jordan but I believe in Wake too. Someone will have to move to LB. Getting rid of Wake will not make us stronger. If we get a 1st rounder for him, it's been 30 years since we had a 1st round pick play to Wake's level. This team desperately needs more elite playmakers. That doesn't start by getting rid of the only one on your team who's done that consistently.

what dont you understand about NOT letting talent go!

Even if you got a 1st for Wake...is anyone confident that "talent evaluator" Jeff Ireland makes good use of the pick???

I could sort of see the OP's logic if Wake was expensive, but even the $8 million price tag for 2015 is chump change if he's still a 10-12 sack player. Vernon's been good this year, but not elite, and we have absolutely no idea if Jordan is an answer at DE yet or not. In a league where you NEED 3 guys that can get to the QB to have a good defense, there is no way I'm trading Wake with his current contract if he can still play. If he can't play anymore he isn't going to get you anything in return anyway. Sorry, but you don't don't trade away players who give you good value as a player at their contract level.

I will lead the lynch party if they trade/cut Wake .

Email me first....ill bring backup.

Why are fans so quick to want to deal good players at positions that we have depth then criticize the drafting ability of the gm to backfill that depth? One of the reasons we have a strong D is because our front 4 are deep and rotate all game staying fresh. If one gets hurt, like earlier this year, we aren't fumbling around to have players like we have done on the OL.

Vernon is having a good year but some of the thanks belongs to wake and the amount of attention teams give him. Lose wake and Vernon stats fall
