Thread of the year..... I see Bortles as a better candidate to be better than Tannehill. Kid reminds me of Roethlisberger and Luck.
Derek Carr has some Jay Cutler tendencies. Big arm but too line drive prone and questionable decisions. Even after the bad call took away the touchdown last week, Carr threw it 100mph to a receiver not close to the end zone. The ball was technically on target but it wouldn't have accomplished much anyway. The ball deflected to nearby Vince Wilfork who just happened to be standing there. Then Carr showed some immaturity like a young Cutler by straining his neck and barking at the player who dropped the ball.
There's no question he has talent. There was a new poster here last spring called youngscout, or something like that, who really liked Carr and had him at the absolute top of his draft list for a while. I haven't seen posts from him lately.
Fresno State plays in a terrible conference with virtually no pass defense. Underneath stuff rambles untouched and can inflate stats. Carr took advantage of that the final two years. He didn't look good downfield in contested situations, and was pathetic against USC in the bowl game. Overmatched. I soured on him but he improved in the Senior Bowl. Many analysts said that Carr played in a more traditional offense earlier in his college career and once he shook the bad habits he developed later he could be a gem. On that footballfutures.com site that I respect many posters have praised Carr for his showing so far.
I'll stick with my summary that typical rookie quarterbacks don't put up many points. There are always good spots to oppose them, generally at home when they more or less are asked to win the game to cover the spread. I already opposed Carr once in that spot, +3 hosting the Texans and they got blasted. I'm not giving points with the Dolphins on a neutral site. We need to find a way to generate more than a rookie quarterback.
Per usual, a rookie quarterback struggles in yards per point. Oakland is second to last, above only Tennessee. It means they have to do too much to score. The occasional play looks good, prompting praise toward the quarterback. The scoreboard rests.

Did you actually watch the game or are you squirting stats out of your rump?
Is this Junc I'm talking to? You're telling me Carr led the Raiders up and down the field. How can you explain scoring 37 pts in 3 games if he's doing that?
I watched the Patriots/ Raiders game prior to the Fins debacle..... I came away very impressed with Derek Carr! Remember he drove them down the field and if it wasn't for another bogus Patriot call. You always have to consider when the Patriots play they get at least 2-3 favorable calls a game. That game might have went into OT! The thing that stood out to me about Carr is he doesn't play like a rookie and he can make all the throws! The main reason he's better than Tannehill already is simply his accuracy and pocket presence! The Raiders have their franchise quarterback and some of you that have not seen him... I think you'll be impressed this Sunday!
Watch a replay of the game and then we'll talk, as of now your opinion counts for squat. It's about how he moved the team, the throws, pocket presence, etc, not just the end result of how many points were scored. Your simplistic approach would be bad enough if you actually watched the game, but discussing it with you in the absence of that is a joke- why not just pull up the box scores, compare the Tannehill numbers versus Carr last Sunday and decide right then and there who played better? After that go watch a Barney the Dinosaur re-run, that's on about the same intellectual level.
For everyone crying about Wake and OV peeling into coverage. Belichick had Wilfork peel into coverage on the last play where he had the interception.
"because the raiders almost beat the pats"
It's funny you have this notion that b/c I disagree with you it's b/c I didn't watch the game. As if doing so would make me do a 180 and agree with you. Carr had 174 yards in the air. How is that moving the team? They had 241 yards of offense total!
No need. Been reading how foolish u are on this thread all day.Go check the posts on that and see how foolish you are.
Did you watch the game or not? Don't pull a Shouright here, answer the question that I already asked and you side stepped.
