:yeahthat: Good post! :clap:SabanScience said:I know. Ronnie Brown. That's why he drafted him number one.
1.Saban likes his running backs big, fast and powerful. During his 10 years at Michigan State, Saban always recruited physical players with a big frame. T.J. Duckett is an example. I would say that Barry Sanders is not a prototypical Saban back. I don't think Zach Thomas is a typical Saban middle linebacker either.
2.Saban wants a north/south runners. He has always used a two tailback system. Even if Ricky doesn't come back, Saban will platoon the RB spot heavily.
3. There have been a couple of good threads on this site about the size increase on the Dolphins team, but it should be clear that Saban does not like body fat. He likes physical guys with big frames. He would go after Ed "Too Tall" Jones before he would go after "The Fridge" or Jerry Ball. Traylor fell into his lap at a cheap price and the Fins are desperate for help on the d-line so that is a no-brainer. Although I like him, Traylor is not the prototypical Saban lineman.
3. MIKE - (Middle backer) He likes them big. This is why I expect Thomas to be moved to WILL (weakside). He wants size and power at the point of attack. I think Crowder or Seau will be the MIKE. On the field, they will run the defense and they have to be smart. Expect to see the MIKE backer calling out the plays and slapping the left defensive tackle into place on occasion. Sometimes, the MIKE will change the front from a 4-3 to a 4-3 with an odd front by switching gap responsibilities with the left defensive tackle (the LDT moves from the 3 gap to the 0 gap). I guess some people are now calling this a 3-4 defense :shakeno:. Oh well, so be it.
4. On offense, this will be an un-Saban like year in Miami. Saban is conservative and would prefer to run it down the opposing defenses throat, but the Dolphins don't have the beef up front. Expect to see a lot of QB rollouts, quick draws, counters, traps and screen passes. Although Nick likes a smashmouth offense, he knows that he can't win that way this year.
5. Saban likes guys that are mentally tough. More than anything, he HATES to give up two big plays on defense back to back. If the opposing offensive throws two 30 yard passes back to back, Saban will run down the sideline screaming at the secondary. :fire:
So the qualities are:
1. Big frame.
2. Physical.
3. Fast.
4. Smart.

Wouldn't that defy the point of having Scott Linehan?SabanScience said:4. On offense, this will be an un-Saban like year in Miami. Just because you don't know what a Saban player is, doesn't mean that the knowledge is some great universal mystery. There are already a few posters in this thread that have hit the nail on head and you trying to paint everyone with a broad brush of ignorance, is just a reflection on your own lack of understanding, not that of anyone else..tucker said:and the answer to your question is...............
nobody knows what a saban type player is so when you do hear that term just let them feel like they know what they are talking about

Really,, and going by what YOU billy fans keep spewing about how N Saban has not coached a game in this league as a h-c,, how can YOU make such a negative comment like YOUR response above??baalworship said:Ricky Williams and David Boston give us a good idea of the kind of qualities that Nick Saban looks for....
