Hold on people. Hester is not near the player he was.

I'm not as excited as others with this but I don't follow your logic. Are you saying he is slower or reads the field worse than when he was younger? I'd imagine he understands the game better and still appears to be explosive. Just feel that statements like this should be followed by a fact or two.
While not the same player he once was, he still is more of a threat than what we currently have. So if the price is right, then why not.
I know there's more to it than just the return guy but Miami averaged more punt return yards last season than the Bears.
Sproles would have been better all around. Though, I'm all for the phins having another weapon and being more dynamic.
I dont like the idea of using a roster spot on a guy who contributes nothing except kick returns. To do that, the player would have to be absolutely exceptional at returning kicks. I know Hester used to be the best in the league at returning kicks....... is he even close to that anymore? He would contribute nothing to offense or defense, just returning kicks.
Also consider the fact that few kicks are even returnable these days. With the new rules a great deal of KO's are sent through the back of the endzone, making a return man obsolete.
Sproles was absolutely the player to get. Not only is he still an ace return man in both KOs and punts, but he is a big time weapon on offense.
Personally, unless I were told Hester would have a huge impact as a return specialist, I would have no interest in signing him even at a league minimum contract.

Pump the brakes on Devin Hester, people. A dozen teams have reached out. #Dolphins one. No visit set yet.
