Thigpen regressed and straight up blew last year. Even Hester at less than he was would still be a big upgrade. Let's take advantage of being the MIAMI Dolphins.
Thigpen 2nds as a running back.. What would Hester 2nd as? a receiver? I doubt it. Not here. I think they were just doing their due diligence in this one.
You have to remember that if he comes in as a kick return guy that he takes a spot from our roster since he can't really play any other position, well. By having a guy that can play special teams and another position/s we save roster spots for more guys. Position flexibility should numero uno with special teamers.
Hester would be primarily a returner but an offensive package with Wallace on one side and Hester on another. Either one has single coverage deep or they drop two safeties and hartline,Gibson,Matthews and clay are going to be having field days with how wide open that middle is.
The difference between Hester and Thigpen is that Thigpen wants to get snaps and Hester just wants to return the ball 4 or 5 times a game. When Hester started to be put into the offence in Chicago he almost quit football. Thigpen could be explosive in the screen games with a new O-line. Ill take the guy that wants to play over the guy who wants to play the least amount possible.
The difference between Hester and thigpen is that Hester is a hall of famer that still runs a 4.38. Sign him up and cut thigpen. Hester can play slot WR in 4 WR sets.
