Dion Jordan bulks up to 265 pounds.

Jordan has a great work ethic that's for sure

It's like having an extra first round draft pick this year
I know what you mean, but not really. He is our first rounder from last year that we traded up for. I sure hope he does something this year.

Take this with a grain of salt. Remember at this time last year we got reports that Jordan was 260 pounds. Among other things there are physiological limits to how quickly you can build lean muscle. The upper limit is 20 pounds for an entire year. If you've "gained" more than that, it's water and fat.

Jason Taylor "bulked up" every offseason but he would always lose everything he had gained by the end of the year, when by his own admission he would be flirting with dipping into the 230s. Yet he was able to defend the run and terrorize quarterbacks. As I've said many times on this subject, the weight is only a means to Jordan becoming a better defender. But the main challenge isn't a few pounds. It's his technique. It's his effort. It's his dedication.
Nice sig!

i'm more willing to believe a 265 number now than i was last year in camp even after weighing 248 at the combine...there's no way he put on 12 lbs of good weight in that short a period of time...

but i have no idea why anyone would say that the weight gain doesnt matter when he couldn't stand up at the poa in the run game being too light in the pants in 2013...he's actually 6 ft 6 1/2 you bet your rear end that weight gain for him matters...added weight will also help with his bull rush and shock in his hands on contact and should help him from being moved off the ball in short yardage and goalline which was a blatant weakness goalline especially in 2013...

265 is exactly the number i've been looking for if he's to ever hold up as an every down end...too much height playing against him leverage wise for him to play a every down 43 de at 250...

lean torso much more weight and i think you may start getting diminishing returns...no more than 270 cause you don't want to lose the elite level athlete you went up into the top 5 for in the first place...if he carried 275 well color me surprised

if there's one guy we all should be eagle eyeing come preseason this is the one...

Jason Taylor had incredible strength for his weight - not a valid comparison. However, Jordan needed to get bigger and he has. Hopefully his natural speed isn't too adversely affected. We are going to have a pretty formidable pass rush this year.

Translation he ONLY worked to gain a few pounds. But didn't spend any or adequate time on his technique, his effort, his dedication!

Got it!

That's only the translation if your goal is to misrepresent what I said. Which apparently it is.

Wheres CK to tell us all tat in his second year, Jordan will be a bust just like Vernon was supposed to be?

If were going to continue to compare Jordan to JT, than we need to forget size, Speed, and strength for a minute, JT had one of he most impressive varieties of pass rushing moves by any DE. He attacked so many different ways, and that was just pure technique, practicing the same steps, over and over day in and day out.

If can get Jordan to do that, yeah, he will be real good. But tbh, you dont see many players who are dedicated the way JT was, the guy almost had to have his leg cut off because of this game.

I'm not surprised but I'm happy to not be disappointed if this hadn't happened. We all figured that if the shoulder healed and strengthened, he could do what he's done. He needed to do this and I'm glad he was able to do it.
It also shows that he's hungry and he has high expectations for himself. It's a big step towards earning respect of his teammates and becoming a leader.
I think his athleticism will really start to show. He was so light and weak last year that OTs could be off-balance and still block him. Now, if his athleticism can get him some leverage, he'll have the strength to shove them away and make a beeline for both QBs and ball carriers.

I think both he and Jamar Taylor are going to positively affect many, if not every game next year.

As much as Ireland screwed the pooch for the 2013 season, the 2013 draft will bear fruit for success moving forward.

It's amazing how little production we got last year from the rookie class, Dion Jordan flashed a few times early but then disappeared because of the emergence of OV. Taylor and Davis looked lost the very few times they were on the field. Dallas Thomas couldn't get playing time even though our line was atrocious. Sturgis was inconsistent.

Dion Jordan has to step up this year and make more impact plays. I expect him to back up Wake and OV, but get a lot of playing time on 3rd downs. He needs to become a dominant force rushing the passer because he is the apparent heir to Cam Wake who is 32. It's nice to see that he put on weight so he can be stronger at the POA, but I wonder if the weight is sustainable. It is very difficult to put on a lot of weight in such a short time so I worry that he will drop most of it by the end of training camp or even throughout the season. I'm hoping for the best but I'm going to stay cautious with my expectations for now.

IMO as long as he has BIG Meals on the Supper Table i think he will be OK with keeping his weight up to where it is , Players know how to eat ,or diet this time of year to either keep the weight they have on , or if they need to lose /shed a few pounds....
