Direct Tv NFL Package Going up!

The way I see it, I was spending about $20 on Sundays at the bar to watch the games so the Sunday Ticket is a bargain for me.

Hey guys, this may be naive, I know. And yes I emailed DirectTV and never received an answer, but, can you just buy a satellite and order only NFL ticket, no other channels or progrmming/packages. I just want the football games, is this possible? If not whats the cheapest alternative, what would be the total estimated cost to watch th Fins play this year? THX.

I think you have to sign a 1-year contract with them when you first join up

I'm getting it Tuesday. I do have some trees in my yard though and am a little nervous about the dish not getting a good signal. It looks like I've got a clear shot at the South Western sky though. I'll find out Tuesday. It's $219. If this doesn't work I'll be crushed as I wanted to put 2 feeds in my living room.

Sunday Ticket is PRICELESS for a native Floridian in Pittsburgh. I would probably pay 500 bucks a season for it or more, but don't tell them that.

Small price to pay to see my beloved fins. Otherwise I'd be stuck watching the Giants and Jets every week. Who the heck wants to see those loser teams

Dude, there were 3 bills in the state legislature this year to ban smoking indoors in commerce - all three failed.

Money talks, waitresses get a tumor.

you can not smoke in places that serve food in Florida. My local sportsbar rocks with big screen tv for the Fins, drink specials, and good food. so all i have to do is show up!!! Some like to be at home, I like to be around a bunch of people watching the games. Makes it more exciting.

There's a paragraph on the DTV website that says you need to have a programming package with them to get Sunday Ticket. The cheapest package is $41.99.

So if you don't need the HDTV, you'll pay the $41.99 a month and $219 for the ticket.

Really? I've been getting just the ticket for the last 3 years.

Last year they offered a deal for new subscribers where for $70/month you get all the pay channels including Sunday Ticket for 4 months then you can go back to $42/month after the season. Pretty good deal because basic service is $42/month so it only ends up costing about $120 for Sunday Ticket and all the pay channels for the whole season. It would be more than worth it for the pay channels alone.

All you have to do is cancel DirecTV and then resubscribe to get the deal.

Must have been a loophole then.

I'm sure if you talked to the right rep on the phone you could get a deal like that.

Here's what I read:

To receive sports programming, a DIRECTV subscription is required and all DIRECTV Receivers must be continuously connected to the same land-based phone line.

http://www.directvsports.com/Subscriptions/NFLSundayTicket/Questions/

Of course mines never plugged into the phone line

DirecTV used to offer Sunday Ticket without the regular subscription plan, so those who subscribed only to ST a few years ago still have it, since they signed up when DTV was allowing it. They've really clamped down on it now, though, and you'd be really lucky if you could talk a phone rep into giving you only Sunday Ticket.

And to the guy who was worried about the trees: don't be. My dish is on the ground right next to a long wall face pointing straight south, and I've never had a problem with it. The "clear view" thing really seems to be an exaggeration. As long as you have a straight shot south about as wide as the dish, you'll be OK.

Small price for me to see Jerry Rice catch his first three touchdowns with Denver, against Miami opening day!

When's your next gig.. I'd love to come see you at whatever comedy place you're at next... Rice, Three touchdowns, against ANY defense is funny..

Hey, don't laugh... that would actually work out well for us, considering that the only times Jake Plummer ever throws for three TDs are when he also throws for five INTs...

When Sunday Ticket was first introduced by DirecTV, it only cost me $69.00. Talk about inflation.
