Disapointed with Hickey this offseason

Ok for the guy with the parallel of the music video... dud that is impressively funny! Best support of the troops seen this year!

clearly.. he ain't Caserio; they got Revis & Browner.. we got Grimes & Gumby.. thanks Steve

Oh Cesario was responsible for that huh? Wonderful logic. Tom Brady or Belichick had nothing to do with NE being successful all these years. No one wants to play for them unless Cesario lays down the gauntlet.

You named 7 positions.

I was referring to reports and posts, nothing whatsoever to do with my expectations, which are getting 2 players to help this year.

Omglob dude we got rid of Carroll? he was such the difference maker in all the games.

He was a hell of a lot better than who we overpaid to replace him with.

LT: Albert> Martin or McKinnie
LG: Smith> Brenner
CB: Finnegan> Patterson (and Finnegan is 1 year younger)
S: Delmas> Clemons ( and Delmas is 1 year younger)
DT: re-signed Starks and signed Mitchell

We're as good or better (and younger) at every position addressed. What's not to like?

Now we need to address the right side of our OL, add a LB and a RB and it will have been an outstanding offseason. I'd like another WR as well but it's not a necessity....
Finnegan > Patterson ?? Sorry but that is laughable. Not even close to being true.
Big Paul > Mitchell.

I don't agree completely with the OP, but at the same time I don't see any big moves that make Hickey the answer at GM. The Finnegan signing was a complete "FAIL" IMO.

Delmus has a chance to be pretty good under Coyle but is certainly not a lock to be an upgrade. He is a play maker that Clemons never was, but Chris was very solid almost never giving up big plays which Delmus is known for. A bit of a lateral move IMO with a chance for Coyle to turn it into a positive.

Losing Big Paul in exchange for Mitchell is NOT an upgrade. Our short yardage defense is going to lose a lot and Paul was one of the best space eaters in the league. Mitchell is much like Starks, but not as strong at POA. He is more of a 3rd down pass rusher from the DT. He is not going to take on double teams as well as Paul. Maybe Coyle has a plan for wanting the change but on face value I don't like the exchange. Last year I gave Coyle the benifit of the doubt when it was said he was the one wanting the changes at LB, but that worked out like a turd in the punch bowl, so if he is the one asking for the change at DT I am not impressed.

Albert is no doubt a major upgrade, although most anyone would have been. Never been a big fan of fat Albert and think he has a horrible attitude and was playing for the pay day we gave him. From what I have seen of him he will not play this year with the same passion he played for last year. Hope I am wrong but don't be surprised if I'm not.

So many hated Ireland just because he was Ireland. I am not going to give the new guy a pass just because he is new. If his new players work out then I am in complete support, but if they fail then I am going to be realistic and call it as I see it. So far I don't see anything that makes him any better than what we had. The draft is going to be what makes the difference. If he drafts well I can forgive a lot in free agency. Jeff's draft record was pretty horrible IMO. Jeff did a lot very well, but drafting was not one of em.

I agree with the OP except for mitchelll.

This post is a perfect example of gibberish. How could you possibly know anything about a guys drive or reasons for playing well? Seriously, I am not saying ALbert is the second coming but you have NO idea what his motivation is. Many out there who know more about football than you say ALbert is a good signing. Bill Polian thought Mitchell was an AWESOME signing. Delmas is injury prone but if healthy he could be a steal. Finnegan is 2 years removed from being a pro bowler. Seriously man you have no IDEA about what goes on with these players. Don''t act like you do. Be a fan cause you are not a gm.lol

Don't mean to be a Debbie downer, but I am disapointed with all the offseason moves besides our resignings of Starks & Grimes.

We signed an injury prone LT and FS, an over the hill CB at an overpriced contract, who was awful last year and a DT Earl Mitchell, again overpriced in a year where the draft is deep at DT.

I would have been far happier with Anthony Collins and resigning Clemons and Carroll, while drafting a DT in draft. Would have saved a ton of money and IMO been no worse off.

I know I'll get shot down for this but I believe after initial frenzy of wanting everyone in FA, once the season kicks off many will be posting the same

And what are we saving "all this money" for? Unless you stand to inherit money From Ross, what do you care how much we could have saved? If you don't spend it, you lose it. They don't roll it over into next years cap. We picked up a few players that were rated well at their respective positions. You have to take the best of what's available. I think our team has improved with the players Hickey has brought in. He, at worst, has created competition at the positions he has addressed. Rome wasn't built in a day.

Give me wade smith Owen Daniels and resign Patterson and I'd be happy

I have a friend who's a serious KC fan and he thinks the Dolphins just got the best Free Agent LT in Albert. Our O-line was a disaster last year but we have an opportunity to make it a strength. Albert is a top 10 OT in the NFL and is consistently good at pass protection. I think that you are dead wrong re having a horrible attitude. He is delighted to be here. If Ireland hadn't screwed it up, he would have been here last year. Miami is where he wants to be.
As for Finnegan, the key is his physical health. He is really feisty and can irritate opposing WRs big time. He had a bad year last year and missed many games with injury, but had a great career before that. Hickey is taking a gamble that Finnegan has still got it. We should see pretty quickly in Training Camp if he's still got gas in the tank or not - match him up against Wallace and we will see if he can keep up. It wasn't very long ago that Finnegan was a really intimidating CB.

I have swung between happy and disappointed at various times in the past week. I was happy we got Albert, but unhappy that we didn't play the Monroe against him to try to get one of them to lower their price. I was ok with resigning Grimes, but I hated the Finnegan signing. We could have gotten guys like Tarrell Brown, Captain Munnerlyn, etc who are better players for the same or less than we are paying a guy who was completely horrible last year. I'm fine with Shelley Smith, but hate the fact that we keep trying to win over Strief when he obviously doesn't want to be here. I hate the fact that we didn't pursue Asamoah or Schwartz. I'm a big fan of the Mitchell signing, he will surprise alot of people on this forum. I'm not thrilled with Delmas either, would rather have had Clemons, or pursued an actual upgrade in the draft or free agency.

Prepare to be labeled a Debbie Downer by those here that fully agree with every move this franchise does and doesn't make.
