First, I am Tannehill fan. But after reading through the findings I can't help but think that Tannehill may not be quite the leader we want him to be.

We don't know if Tannehill personally witnessed any of the incidents in the report, but if he witnessed the trainer incident and did nothing to stop it, that is a big black mark for me.

What we do know is that he was tight with Richie and Pouncey, so he must've witnessed at least some of this awful behavior being directed at others in the organization and seemingly did nothing to reign it in.

This whole incident speaks to a huge leadership void in the lockerroom. The QB is supposed to be THE leader of the team.

I understand he is young, but you would hope he would be able to demand that teammates be respectful of others.

Thoughts?

Stop trying to create more controversy

I just think it's a valid point to consider? Why didn't the leader of the team do anything to help this situation, especially when you consider he was publicly good friends with the perpetrators.

I think its a very valid point, its not like anyone else in the locker room didn't know what was going on.

You ask most guys in that locker room about Incog and Martin and they were best friends before martin left. How does a guy step in when nothing appears wrong?

Maybe because,no matter what some of the talking heads say, this kind of behavior IS common in most locker rooms and they have seen it all their playing careers...so he just thought it was same o same o.

No it merely sadly confirms that racism and pandering to the red meat droolers still create more traction today than honesty and integrity. But thanks for asking

I don't think Ryan Tannehill can be expected to be a leader in only his second year in the league, with the way he's played thus far in his career. I don't think he has the foundation for taking on that sort of role and being viewed by his teammates as having "earned" it.

What's the stats on leadership for a QB compared to a lineman compared to a linebacker? Shoutright,Gravity,or whatever your going by now?

Its a huge locker room. Lets just implicate everyone in the building who was there, even though they might not have heard or seen anything. If Tannehill was within yelling distance of Incognito when he made a remark to the trainer...well then he must be guilty of lacking leadership. Holy crap whats wrong with you people.

I was watching a special about Jerry Rice last night. Jerry Rice attended the special teams practice all the time even though he never played special teams.
He thought that that part of the game was so important that he attended to make sure everyone on the team knew how important it was. If he was there they had better take it seriously.
Not to knock RT17 but that is a real leader. Kind of agree with OP that he should have known more.

Except for new NFL CBA rules now dictate how much time players are allowed to practice.

They dictate how many full pad practices you can have, i don't believe it say anything about extra study time or sitting in on special team or line drills.

They do actually, not only are padded practices limited, but so are unpadded practices, OTA, and the amount of time you can require your players to participate in each.
