Do we want Flynn

What is your reason for wanting Flynn. I'm asking for the sake of debate, not because I disagree.
Because of the organization he plays for now. They know what they are doing and he has picked some of that up. OH, and he sure looks good on field

If Flynn and Moore traded places, that is Moore in Green Bays offense and Flynn in ours, would Flynn be that much better?

I personally think any team that gives Flynn big money and a starting job is out of their mind. He had one good game and his stats are better than his performance. (Two of his long touchdowns were dump-offs.) Flynn entered Week 17 with more interceptions than touchdowns and a 68 passer rating. One game doesn't prove he can be a starter--it proves he can have a good game. There isn't a big enough body of work to prove he's any better than he was when he was a seventh-round pick.

Cassell was Brady's understudy in a record-shattering offense, and actually came in cold and for the whole league to see, won 11 games and himself a mega contract. Bet Pioli would like a mulligan on that one eh?

so if aaron rodgers catches the lions in a blitz and dumps it to his back for long tds like i've seen him do before those tds carry more weight than matt flynn doing the same i guess...flynn was under a lot of pressure from both sides wide in that game and he stepped up and moved around to create the time to throw the ball down the field with accuracy and timing...and made plenty of plays

if you haven't watched that game tape i suggest you do...cause he looked way better than any 7th round pick garbage you're throwing out there

I'm not saying Rodgers doesn't have dump-off passes go for big gains. But Rodgers' body of work is big enough and he's made enough plays on his own for us to know he's an elite quarterback.

I'm not saying Flynn isn't good and I'm not saying he can't be an NFL starter. But he's being overrated by fans of teams desperate for quarterbacks because he had one game and is Rodgers' backup. There is no reason to consider him an starting-caliber talent or pay him like one at this point in time. He was a seventh-round pick for a reason and has not played enough to prove he's anything more.

tom brady was a 6th round pick...who the hell cares where a guy was picked if when he gets in the game he hangs td burgers on the opposition...that argument about where he was drafted makes zero sense...

i'm not sayin he is aaron rodgers or even a poor mans version but i watched that detroit tape and broke it down and matt flynn played damn well...yeah he's got weapons but he made good reads delivered the ball with velocity and accuracy and the packs o didn't miss a beat without rodgers...

we got matt moore for gods sakes and people want to snub their nose at a kid who may be available in free agency who has upside and unlike these college kids has provided solid nfl game tape his 2 starts...against new england 295 yards 3 tds 1 int and then against the lions...480 6tds 1 int 1 fumble the fumble a jail break in pass pro

Again, I'm not saying Flynn can't be a good quarterback. But if teams are going to be tripping over themselves to give him a Kolb/Cassel kind of deal, then I don't want the Dolphins to be part of it. It's too unproven and his upside is largely manifested, and all your "film breakdown skillz" don't change that.

ha ha ok chris...maybe you should watch the tape and get back with me...

if your telling me its more financial risk than you want to take on i'll listen to that more than he hasn't shown anything more than a 7th round pick...but the bottom line and this is what people don't get around here is even if you did give him kolb money $63 mil over 7 years in free agency as long as the guaranteed money is something you can work with and gives you an out early in the contract should he fail its no more risky than giving a qb in the 1st round under this new cba $20 mil guaranteed which in the top 5 you'd be looking at...for a complete nfl at least unknown

I put a significant chunk of my time into breaking down NFL play. My Dolphins site is like a second job for me. The Lions game doesn't change the fact that Flynn's upside is highly questionable, whereas a high draft pick carries immense upside and a greater chance of reaching it.

so tom brady was drafted in the 6th round cause he lacked all the physical abilities scouts looked for in the nfl draft with high picks etc...howd his upside turn out...that argument blows

matt flynns got as much upside as plenty of nfl starting qbs in this league...all i'm sayin is if i'm miami and i've still not stabilized the qb position long term i'm absolutely interested in matt flynns market when the time comes...especially when i have no shot at getting up there for andrew luck

I'm for Flynn if we sign the GB offensives coordinator as head coach so he can stay in a similar system. Now with his family life all f'ed up who knows what will happen with Philbin. So sad.

I'd take Flynn over anyone not named Luck/RG3. And yes that means I would take the chance on a young Matt Flynn with tons of potential than a old, fragile Manning.

As you may have observed, Tom Bradys are pretty rare. So the chances of Flynn turning into Brady are extremely low and I wouldn't bank on that with a big contract. If Belichick had KNOWN what Brady would become, he would have drafted him four or five rounds earlier.

So yeah, as of now, Matt Flynn doesn't have much obvious upside. He wasn't even that good in college (one starting year, bad completion percentage, a manager of a championship team) and that's why he was a late-round pick. We haven't seen enough to say he's any more than he was in 2008--an NFL backup.

tell me this chris...did you watch the whole green bay lions game or just highlights...if its the latter you shouldn't be talkin about his upside

as for flynn in college i'm fully aware that he wasn't a great prospect...heck i hated him...but we're not talkin about a college prospect anymore..we're talkin about a guy who when he's gotten his chance in the nfl has produced..yeah 2 starts but 2 good ones and one damn good one...we're talkin about a guy the green bay front office even gushes about...

i'm not snubbing my nose at that when i have no long term answer at qb...and definitely not off your lack of upside angle...
