Do we want Flynn

tell me this chris...did you watch the whole green bay lions game or just highlights...if its the latter you shouldn't be talkin about his upside

as for flynn in college i'm fully aware that he wasn't a great prospect...heck i hated him...but we're not talkin about a college prospect anymore..we're talkin about a guy who when he's gotten his chance in the nfl has produced..yeah 2 starts but 2 good ones and one damn good one...we're talkin about a guy the green bay front office even gushes about...

i'm not snubbing my nose at that when i have no long term answer at qb...and definitely not off your lack of upside angle...

I pay for NFL Game Rewind, so yes, I've watched his game. You say he's "gotten his chance in the NFL and has produced" but he hasn't gotten enough of a chance to prove he's a starter. I know his numbers from the Lions game are kind of crazy, but any NFL quarterback can have a great day--even an inexperienced one and one that's put in a great position to succeed and gets a little luck.

As for Green Bay talking him up...I'd say that should be taken with a grain of salt considering I'm sure they've thought about dealing him in the past and they could always franchise him and do the same thing this offseason. They have a lot of incentive to talk him up.

Again--I'm not saying he won't be a good NFL quarterback. If I could sign him to a small contract and let him compete, then I'm all for it. But I'm a Dolphins fan and want a franchise quarterback. There are better options whether it be this draft or next (we all know Moore is pretty much going to start in 2012 anyway), so IF teams start a bidding war for Flynn, then I hope the Dolphins don't take part.

I don't get the risk with Flynn, there's no draft picks being wasted it's only money. So he walks away with 20mil guarenteed and busts out, how does that effect us. Whats the difference between that and Smiley or the Oakland Center whats his name. But the upside is he is as good as he's shown and we finally have found our man, heck you can still draft a youngster this year if you want. We still have M.Moore and P.Devlin so really what's the risk besides some money that isn't ours?

That spent money prohibits the team from spending it elsewhere, and if Flynn busts then it's money that certainly could have gone to something more valuable. There is a salary cap and Miami doesn't have all that much room, so I'd hardly consider throwing away millions nothing.

As for your signature...trade Sean Smith and pay crazy money for Finnegan? Draft an inside linebacker with Burnett and Dansby? Come on, dude...

ok...so you watched it and keyed flynn i'm assuming...what was your take on his play??? drop it on me

He made good decisions and was safe with the football. He was decisive and hit the guys when they were wide open. The Lions played some terrible defense and at least half of Flynn's touchdowns were more on the receiver than Flynn. (In particular, Nelson's first, Grant's 80-yarder, Driver's was the result of an illegal screen.)

I'm not saying he didn't have a good game. Obviously he did. I'm just saying it doesn't mean he's an NFL starter. Matt Moore against KC was just as efficient and effective despite not having the yardage or touchdown totals, but he's really nothing more than a stopgap/backup either.

and why no mention about the pressure he was under a lot in that game???

jordy nelson chewed up the lions against press man coverage...destroyed em...but i don't think those 2 tds of his are only on the receiver...flynn on the 34 yarder in the corner of the endzone saw that he had a free play on the offsides and let it fly high and wide to the pylon yes nelson used his body to get position and highpointed the ball but thats a good play on both ends...

the 2nd nelson td flynn comes to the los and sees in the tight red zone off man coverage on nelsons side rises from under center and fires to nelson at the los and yeah nelson stiff arms the db and walks in but thats nice coverage recognition by flynn and a play i've seen rodgers do the exact same thing on for a td many times...

the worst play of the game for flynn was the 8 yards off man coverage from cb alphonso smith where nelson ran a quick slant and flynn telegrasphed the throw so much from the jump that smith was able to put his foot in the ground and jump it from 8 yards off...that one you know when a guy comes that far is on the qb...

other than that i didn't see a bad decision the rest of the game...yeah one time they said he threw into triple coverage on the game winning 2 minute drill drive but driver fell down out of his break and had he not he crosses right into that ball

he threw a wonderful back shoulder tight red zone td to finley split out wide...ball was spot on

Of COURSE we will miss out on Flynn, we are KNOWN for missing out on good Qbs. Passed on Brees TWICE, passed on Rodgers, Matt Ryan, Schaub, etc etc. Is it any question we will not make a move for Flynn, instead settling for some "project Qb" in the draft and pinning our hopes on our staff developing a Qb, while watching Flynn develop into a solid starter that he already gave a glimpse of against NFL talent. Nah, we will roll the dice on an unproven, questionable kid who has never taken a snap in the league. Its the Dolphin way..

Yes, because all our quarterbacks since Marino have been "questionable kids" who "have never taken a snap in the league." Except that doesn't fit any of them. Guess it isn't the "Dolphin way."

if thats you in your avatar, you look like a smaller combination of ryan mallet and chad henne.

When I think hot backups I think Schaub, Kolb, Cassell, Fitzgerald, Feeley... No better than Moore IMO.

Flynn is the next hot thing on the market after a small sample size of work.

I say keep Moore and draft a QB.
jones or weezer are the only ones worth getting in my opinion and not worth a 9th pick

The argument do we take a chance on Flynn or give away draft picks for RGIII.

Flyn
Pros: In his limted time against good competition he has perfomed very well. Green Bay has always had the ability to find and build good QB.
Cons: Limited Playing time. In past second string QB do not pan out as starting QB.

RGIII
Pros: Once is lifetime talent, not only physical but intelligence. Produced on the field with limited talent around him against toght competition and in important games.
Cons: Rookie QB are always a risk. Do we sell out the future by giving up draft picks for a player. Played mostly in shotgun.

You must have the lifespan of a fly, lol.
