Do you think it's Fair !!!

Get real. It isnt about being fair to Feeley, or Gus, or anybody. Its about putting the best players on the field. If that player happens to be Feeley, then great. If its Gus, then so be it.
Saban isnt a kindergarten teacher trying to make sure every kid has an equal chance to play with the "cool toys".... He's the head coach of a professional football team trying to win as many games as possible.

Well said!

It's not going to be fair. Saban and Linehan have reviewed film of both QBs. They already have an opinion as to whom they prefer. Practice play will of course factor into that opinion, but one player will have a leg up in the coaches mind.

Feeley will be the starter,Gus is here merely as a teacher and back up QB.Competition is good it will push AJ.JMHO. Besides if AJ can't beat out an aging career back up QB do we really want here at all?

couldnt have said it better

I do not care one iota about fair. AJ and Gus get paid in such a way that they are in the .0001 percentile of Americans. They are, by any standards, RICH! For what? For playing football! I say GREAT! more power to them.

Now get your ARSES out there and WIN! Both will get to start because circumstances in the NFL require teams to have to high caliber QBs. We probably have 2 adequate QBs. With talent and perserverance we can win with Gus the head butt, and AJ the squirming in painfish.

I'm not sure how they will determine the winner of the QB battle between Gus and Feeley but one thing I know for sure is that it won't be fair. Since Gus allrady knows the system, he is more comfortable and Linehan and Bagget knows what he is capable off....What advantage does Feeley has over him? I even believe the coaches want him to fail...

Feeley will probably practice in training camp with the second team including Derrius Thompson, Josh Davis, Kendall Newson, Alex Holmes and other players who might not even make the team. If it was to make it a fair QB battle, I would give Feeley way more snaps than Gus to get even with him and at least be more 50% comfortable in the system entering the 1st game of the season. Feeley has one advantage which is that he knows the timing of his receivers allready including David Boston that he got to throw to last year. Besides that, the coaches, the new system, the learning process are all factors against him.

How fair is the QB battle between Gus and AJ? This sounds like a Mission Impossible for Feeley. Why do you think Fiedler was always beating every QB that came to compete with him?

Cry me a river!! Go change your diaper because it's full of $h*t like you!!

Everyone knows on this board you are an Anti-Feeley because he stole your girlfriend...Get over it....
By the way, it's hotter right now in Alaska, your brain should un-freeze right now and bring you back to the real world...

I think its fair because Gus knows the system but hes older so he has no more developement left in him and Feely does the 2 biggest factors. So i think it will come down to who looks better at camp and performs during preseason.

Feely starts off quarterback and keeps it through the year but gets hurt for a few games. (My prediction)

You gave him no answer either, just putting my answer down. I'm sorry it wasn't good enough for you all mighty Spielman lover.

The title of the thread is Do you think it's Fair !!!. I gave him my answer but that wasn't good enough for you.

He said that Linehan and Baggett already know what Gus can do, meaning they think he has the advantage. Saban will go with the better QB from training camp. Both will get work with the first team. Wanny and Spielman are gone so it won't be an unfair competition.

I wasn't answering the question, I was picking on you :D ..you're right I'm a speilman lover and proud of it..I know enough about football to be that way.. you're also right that your answer wasn't good enough for me. So make it better. :rofl3:

Any way, if splitting time equally is what Saban plans on doing, then no, it's not fair. If AJ get 2 to 1 snaps with the first team then yes it's fair. Either way AJ does have to prove he has enough knowledge and comfort level\feel of the O to make Saban comfortable. If Saban has his mind made up that he's going to get rid of all Speilman did, then AJ and a number of players have no chance. This year, most of those players should be okay because of cap ramifications, but the future will tell the character of Saban. If a player is good, then they should stay, if it's not a saban's pick and they go, not because of abilities, then we know he has a bigger ego than JJ.. I'm hoping he plays good football players because they're good and not who brought them in. Anyway, here's to hoping we win. :happydrin

Once again I will point out...Feeley is getting a fair shot at the starting job...you want to talk about unfair? Go to talk to Sage Rosenfels.

Are you trying to say that we shouldn't have brought in Gus because he has an unfair advantage to start???

I honestly think some people are bigger Feeley fans than Dolphins fans, it seems that a lot of people put the good of AJ before the good of the team.

The only knot on Gus is he's defintely not long term..AJ age sets him up for that. That's what we're looking for, some stability to that position. That's defintely makes us all dolphins fans. Gus would be like a drug, a temporary high if he succeeds, but you will have to come back down fast and then start looking for the next high by next year..

Good point. I guess I just feel that if Feeley can't beat out Gus then he isn't going to be long term anyways. And the fact that AJ is 28 years old so he isn't exactly long term anyways. (Say what you will about QB's being effective late in their 30's, thats the exception not the norm)

Hey LIFE is not fair....but all I want is a solid QB who will help us win....he doesn't have to be 75% of Dan Marino....just don't make the horrible INTs that get run back for TDs.....make smart decisions, hand the ball off to Ronnie and no 3 and outs so our defense won't be out there the whole game.

You know what, if Aj is a competitor he'll man up and show everyone "hey i can be a good practice player, I can be a leader and I will bust my tail." If not he'll be where I think he belongs, on the bench. Competition should be a motivator for someone in his position not a confidence blow or anything like that. He has everything to prove and nothing to lose in the position he's in because Frerotte was actually recomended to Saban by Linehand because obviously Linehan has faith he can handle the qb duties. Now its up to AJ to prove the doubters like myself wrong. I hope he does cause I am a phin fan 1st and would hate to see the 2nd rd pick we dealt for him be the complete waste i felt it was when we made the deal.
