Do you want to know what is Insulting? (I am pissed off)

Defensive co-ordinators almost lost their jobs because of Marino.... not because of Elway, Young, or Montana. Marino never had a solid running game, he was gonna throw it and every body on the field and in the stadium knew it...and nobody could stop him!

Kick *** post!

Couldn't have said it better myself. If Dan Marino in his prime had anything close to a 2002 Ricky Williams, he'd have gotten that ring. That's how Elway won it.

If Marino had a running back in his prime, he probably would not of broke every passing record imaginable. Dan Marino is the best passer of all-time, but not the best Qb. If Manning continues to put up numbers, I do not expect 49 td's every year, but he's gonna be ahead of Marino on most of the lists, and if he does not win a ring, I don't see how you can say he was a better Qb than Brady.

Its just ADMIN EDIT: Do NOT bypass the profanity filter in that manner. SAD that Marino gets no media respect even though hes getting inducted into the Hall of Fame.

What is insulting is that Steve Young will be inducted on the same day as Dan Marino.

What is insulting is that every single commentator this week (the week of Marino's induction) on ESPN has taken to ranking Marino below the top five alltime.

What is insulting is that a rag arm skinny luckbox piece of crap like Joe Montana even gets mentioned in the same breath.

What is insulting is that they equate Jerry Rice, John Taylor, Ricky Watters, Roger Craig, and Terrell Owens to Kareem Abdul jabbar, Sammy Smith, Irving Fryar, Bobby Ingram, and Tony Martin.

What is insulting is that they say that HE is somehow responsible for not winning a championship.

What is insulting is that a guy that was a run of the mill pro bowl quarterback....vaults to THE GREATEST OF ALL TIME because he has a runningback run for 5 million yards a game.

And in closing....When he is inducted he should pass by Montana's and Young's bust and spit on them.

Screw Montana, Screw Young, Screw Elway and while you are at it....Screw Brady and Manning too.

Dan Marino was the greatest quarterback of all-time and if you disagree......screw you.

There...I feel better.
The only thing better than pouring through that wonderfully astute diatribe would be to hear it on a talk show with some of those Marino bashers. Call'em up, tear'em down and shut'em up. Go for it!

If you really knew football, you would know that the run sets up the pass and vice versa.

So, if Dan had a legit running threat behind him, passing would have been easier.

It's even more of a testiment to Dan that he scorched defenses through the air when they KNEW that the Dolphins had to throw.

Well unfortunately you missed the point, if there was a running threat, the team would not of passed as much, thus the numbers would be cut down. Even more if the defense was better than Marino would had to throw as much because the team would be in the lead, also cutting down his numbers. Don Shula is not Steve Spurrier, and I don't think he would've ran the score up on teams, like Spurrier did in college, so if Marino had a running game, and a better defense, than his numbers go down.

wow..to really say montana isnt deservable to be in the same crowd as marino, is pretty ignorant

Unitas won Super Bowl V. He was the starter. He got injured and Earl Morral replaced him (Earl Morral started Super Bowl III and Johnny Unitas replaced him.)

That's a good arguement.

I was thinking about who were the best pure passers in NFL history. Marino, Unitas, Fouts, none of them won a Super Bowl I don't think.

Did Unitas win a Super bowl?

Jim Brown didn't win a Super bowl either, and he was definitely the best RB of all time. I don't care how many yards or rings Emmitt gets.

Unitas lost Super Bowl III but he won Super Bowl V. Unitas also won the NFL Championship in '58 and '59.
Jim Brown didn't win a Super Bowl bcause he retired one year before it existed. Brown played on the 1964 NFL Champion Browns.
It may be unfair that QBs are seen as the leader of the team and the team's fortunes rest on their shoulders. This also means they are valued by whether or not they can win the big one. However, great QBs want this perception.
Personally, Marino still gets mentioned with all the great passers (that won championships). Think about the other HOFs that passed for a lot of yards and TDs that never won a championshiop and NEVER get mentioned as one of the great ones (Tarkenton--broke most of Unitas' records, Kelly, rarely is Fouts mentioned)

I can't even listen to people say that Montana or Young were better than Marino. It makes me sick....really. They ruin my day, and I let them.

Just like I can't listen to people say that Brady is better than Manning.

I don't even waste my breath anymore. It's useless. These people must not watch these men play and the teams around them.

And to the person that said that Emmit was better than Barry............you've gotta be kidding me right? Once the NFL brought in a salary cap, goodbye 5 probowler line for the cowboys and down the drain went emmitt smith's career (I still think he was good, but let's be serious. That was the best O-line I've ever seen).

If Marino had a good running back or a good defense, he could have a very high chance of winning a Super Bowl. And I'd take that over any passing record, just ask any Colts fan. :D But pound for pound, I still think Marino is the best regardless of the lack of rings, though a Super Bowl ring would've just been icing on the cake.

C'mon tell us how you really feel.

I totally agree with you though....the only QB who I feel came close to Dan Marino was John Elway...who I pretty much watched every week here in Colorado....Dan just never had the supporting cast....other than Dwight Stephenson at Center and maybe a a couple other guys he never had a great O-line, he never had a dominant runner in the backfield.....and he just did not have the supporting cast.

BUT....Dan is still the greatest QB of all time!!!!

Best Ever:
1. Dan Marino
2. John Elway
3. Brett Favre
4. Johnny Unitas
5. Joe Montana
