Do you want to know what is Insulting? (I am pissed off)

(Fin Fans sitting around the bar)

Grapeape: What's wrong with everybody?
Sec126: it's over man Marinos out of the top 5

Grapeape: Over, did you say over? Noting is over til we decide it is was it over when the Germans bombed Pear Harbor?

Sec126: Germans? Pearl Harbor?
Nublar: Forget it he's on a roll.

.GRAPEAPE......... HELL NO, and it ain't over now. (Drunkley babbles on)... Montana DEAD Young DEAD, ELWAY, he's a dead man, Now who's with me YEAHHHHHH! (as he stumbles out of the bar headed for Canton to kick some sh$ty QB a*s).

by the way I agree Dan should be Top 3 easy.

Right on

I couldn't agree with you more. Marino might be the best QB to ever play the game. It's not his fault that he was never given a run game to compliment his air game, or a defence liker we currantly have. He owns more NFL QB records than all those other pin heads put together. It's scary to think what he could have done with the 2002-2003 Dolphins.

My Favorite Marino Diss of the week was when Paige and Bayless where arguing that Marino doesn't win a Super Bowl with Young's teams.....

And the better one was the one on NFL Live that said...Marino in SF to start his career....How many Super Bowls? and they said "Maybe one!"

Could you imagine those SF teams with Dan? Rice would have actually had somebody to throw a deep ball.....

One of those great SF teams might have even gone undefeated with a Dan Marino leading that offense.

I said it before and I will say it again. Young is ESPN's Boy because he works there and they all love him. ESPN is PO'd that Marino never hung with them and worked with them. He is just to good for them.

Everyone has this love fest for Montana. He was a great QB in the system. Marino was the system, was the offense, was the reason Miami won so many games for so many seasons.

Does anyone truly believe that if Montana was Miami's QB for the same years that Marino was.... that he would have all the same wins, all the same records, all the same type memories that Marino provided.

Some probably think that Miami would have more wins w/ Montana. They are friggin retarted!!!

What is insulting is that Steve Young will be inducted on the same day as Dan Marino.

What is insulting is that every single commentator this week (the week of Marino's induction) on ESPN has taken to ranking Marino below the top five alltime.

What is insulting is that a rag arm skinny luckbox piece of crap like Joe Montana even gets mentioned in the same breath.

What is insulting is that they equate Jerry Rice, John Taylor, Ricky Watters, Roger Craig, and Terrell Owens to Kareem Abdul jabbar, Sammy Smith, Irving Fryar, Bobby Ingram, and Tony Martin.

What is insulting is that they say that HE is somehow responsible for not winning a championship.

What is insulting is that a guy that was a run of the mill pro bowl quarterback....vaults to THE GREATEST OF ALL TIME because he has a runningback run for 5 million yards a game.

And in closing....When he is inducted he should pass by Montana's and Young's bust and spit on them.

Screw Montana, Screw Young, Screw Elway and while you are at it....Screw Brady and Manning too.

Dan Marino was the greatest quarterback of all-time and if you disagree......screw you.

There...I feel better.
I feel better too.

Come to think of it, most years Marino was the defense also. He had to outscore the other teams offense and beat them.

Of the people with a brain club.....

Let me guess...you like the skinny luckbox rag arm POS?

If you mean Montana, Yeah, I liked him, thought he was great. My favorite will always be Dan, but that doesn't mean I can't appreciate other great players. And I'm not such a blinded, hero-worshipping homer that I pi$$ all over the legacies of other great players. But that's just me, I guess of the "people without a brain club.":)

On another note, you might try Sanka.

I got to say I more than completely agree with you. I havbe nto been watching ESPN for this exact reason. I have given up on tal;king to people who think Montana is better than Marino, they are all absolute ******s. Look at the f'ing stats and the teams that surrounded them. Damn it pisses me so off. MArino has more records trhan anyone in that position ever. I give it ot Montana, Elway and Young that they were great QB's but they had alot of help but when you come down to just pure skilss and the ability to get down the field, there truly was no one better than MArino, and the stats only prove that. How can they deny that is where I am so confused??

This argument has gone on for decades. For knowledgable fans like most of the ones here it's very obvious. Football is a TEAM sport. The Superbowl is won by the best TEAM that year. Great TEAMS win Superbowls, not necessarily great players. Great players are elected to pro-bowls by their peers, set records and perform on the field in a manner that can not be duplicated by their peers. Joe Montana was NOT a great player IMO. I am old enough to remember Montana playing before Walsh implemented the "West coast Offense", he sucked! Walsh implemented this offense because Montana could NOT throw the ball accurately more than a few yards. Walsh adapted this system to have a chance with a less than NFL caliber arm. I can accept (but disagree with) the opinion that Elway, Farve, Unitas, Namath were great quarterbacks. Guys like Manning and Brady may become great with longevity. But as of right now Marino and Elway are head and shoulders above all others period. My nod goes to Marino maybe because he was ours or maybe because I think Elway had a better supporting cast and still trails Marino by over 100 touchdowns. So, best team maybe 49ers, but best QB DAN MARINO period, end of story!!!

Bro I hear your frustration, but we as fans, have had the pleasure to watch one of the greatest quarterbacks to ever play the game, and play for our beloved Dolphins! We know in our hearts what is right, and Dan was the Man without a doubt! Here's to Dan! Congrads!

I would certainly say Dan Marino is one of the 5 greatest QBs of all time, but to completely dismiss Montana's and Young's accomplishments seems excessive. If Bill Walsh adapted his playcalling to his QB's strengths, then that speaks well on Walsh. But I don't think you win 4 Super Bowls and not throw an INT in any of them without a good deal of talent, and I don't think you throw 6 TDs in a Super Bowl without a good deal talent. If you don't like what ESPN is saying about Marino, don't watch. It's not as if they're going to steal Marino's bust and defecate on it.
