Does anyone have any faith Philbin will replace Wheeler or Dallas Thomas?

I trust Hickey a hell of a lot more than I trust Philbin or Coyle or Ireland's ghost. So I absolutely believe out of Tripp, McCain and Smith, Turner we can find better options than Thomas and Wheeler. Bad choices have done as much damage to our oline the passed few years as bad players have.

The problem is that Hickey is not the guy who decides who plays. Hickey puts guys on the roster. Joe determines who to play.

I'm very concerned about our interior OL right now, and if the coaches and front office aren't likewise concerned, we are going to have a very rough time until Mike Pouncey gets back. And even after that.

I'm a relative newcomer to being a fan of the NFL but one thing I've learned is everybody will be very concerned about the status of the o-line every minute of every day of every season for the rest of our lives. Death, taxes, and I'm worried about the o-line.

Hickey may not decide who plays, but if he goes out and gets an RG...it will be hard for Philbin not to give him a shot.

Well if Joe gets fired at seasons end then so will our entire staff and maybe even Hickey. The entire thing will be blown up and we'll have to start all over yet again

THis point of view is the reason too many fans are content with mediocre for so long. We have changed coaches quite a bit but not a lot of so called blowing it up. Did Philbin blow anything up? Lets not act like we have come so far that it would make us start all over.

I have no faith in Philbin to make any changes until is too late. His history with us shows no differant

after watching the post game interview with Joe Philbin, He looked pissed especially about the negative rushing plays and I think he will make a change at Guard.

He clearly says that the line is not set as it is. From his body language I think Thomas is no longer in the starting lineup for the Cowboys game.

Here's the postgame with Phlbin.

Personally, I'm looking forward to this. Since Philbin was hired, the rushing offense, rushing defense, and o-line play has declined every year. Between Ireland, Philbin, and Hickey, they sure are having a difficult time finding 5 competent o-linemen (+ back-ups) who can run the zone-blocking schemes that Philbin wants. If Philbin wasn't so inflexible, he could have just made some upgrades to the power-blocking line that he inherited and adapted his offense to fit. In hindsight, that would have been a good move, because it's now Year 3 and the o-line is STILL a problem.

After his horrid patience with the Oline coming out of the bye last week does anyone have any faith He'll replace these two stiffs? Not me....I think it took Martin to walk and Richies suspension before he shuffled chairs on the Titanic. Im sure he'll wait till its too late. Cant wait till Joes gone.

Listen up fellow upstater, Joe aint goin nowhere. This is not a titanic situation. and guys like Fede, Mccain, Tripp ect. are steals. Just let the process play out. I certainly expect weak links. Every team has em.

Joe is doing a great job. He is the most steady HC we have had minus two losses last year at the end. He fixed two of the most glaring holes on this team with redoing the OL and getting Lazor while bringing in more talent and depth.

Not buying. sorry. Rome wasnt built in a day. Mccoy is best in the league.

Sure. I think Wheeler has a better chance of sticking, but Joe will make a move if it warrants.

Just a little perspective here- it's preseason. Yes this is the time to see how your players do; however, the playbook is limited and not all the players are in. This is where coaches put players in situations to see how they will do so there are no surprises in the regular season. Furthermore, you base your view of said player off of only a few series you are missing with how they would put together a complete game.

Don't freak out yet- we have options to start at G and it's obvious the coaching staff is evaluating those options.

I think Joe knows this is his last year to turn it around. If he doesn't he's gone and he has no ties to Ireland's guys.So he will start whoever gives him the best chance to save his butt

Exactly. How many times have we heard put the backup QB in, RB. Then when said player comes in results are similar. We have some weaknesses but I am not going to just assume the backup is a better player at this point.
