Does Berlin out = Couch in?

Unfortunately. But Berlin did show enough to be put on the Practice Squad.

Why put a QB on the the practice squad? Your only allowed 8 guys and these guys need to be able to take a hit. QB's, like kickers, usually are not put on the PS. Usually the 3rd QB (Sage) will run the other teams O in practice.

If Couch is close to signing a contract with us, then he knows something that even the local media who is all over the team has not even picked up on. Possible? yes. Likely? No.

I see what you are saying but remember the local media hasnt had too much luck trying to figure out who Saban wants to bring in lately. Saban and company keep their dealings in-house, behind close doors, and very little gets leaked out nowadays. Thats one of the reasons for so much speculations and rumors...because nobody knows anything concrete.

Why would we release Berlin before the last preseason game, a game he could have seen time in playing, if we wanted to keep him.

It's just might be Couch in and Feeley out. Sage and AJ are not that different. Use the cap savings to sign Simon. Who would you rather have Feeley or Simon?

Actually they are. Couch and Rosenfels are actually very similar in their physical skills.

Actually if they sign Couch, Feeley will be back to 3rd string which he will likely not want to accept so they might as well cut him and use the cap money on Simon.

I would rather have couch than any of the other 3

you bring up a good point. If you cut Brock, and noone buys, you know noone will want him if on the PS. But then again, Berlin isnt really a wanted man around the NFL, so what Saban might also do is tell Berlin to stay in shape and come to camp ready to go next year or send him to WFL which is probably exactly where he is headed especially since we like to carry alot of those guys.

I think John Clayton is out there reporting that we're close to signing Couch...

I dunno, Couch has never showed me anything other than eh was waaay over rated coming in. If we do get him, I hope I am wrong.

Does releasing Brock Berlin has anything to do with Saban wanting to bring in Tim Couch? I read somewhere where there is apparently a contract is in the works?? If that's so whats going to happen to Sage?? I thought he did a pretty good job while he was given a chance.

Berlin was gone anyway, if Couch is signed Sage is out.

I hope we already have anough bad qbs and I glad we drafted roth and not dan cody cus he's done for the year with a torn acl

You again?

Feeley won't be cut to keep Sage.
Nothing and I mean nothing that has happened in the preseason leans to Saban favoring Sage over Feeley in the QB battle.

As someone else brought up in a diff. thread, the cap savings would actually be slightly bigger if Sage was cut and not AJ.

Got anything else?
