does the QB controversy start again

LOL 1 from McMike is on Gus it was behind him, CC didnt drop that ball it was well underthrown and he had to come back and make a play on it, it was low. AJ would have had better stats as well had he not had drops.

Point being use teh same criteria when you evaluate or you lose credibility.

well you say that the mcmike pass was behind him but if you look there was a corner coming the other way and if he tried to pass it in front it was getting picked off so he put it only where mcmike could get it and if i remember right it hit his hands and then the one to chambers hit his hands too but chambers wasnt looking until the last second for some odd reason and then when he looked it hit him right in the hands and again it was in a spot where only are reciever could get to it and the defenders couldnt do anything about it. If chambers was looking he had a easy catch. i was at the game and i was in teh lower section and all this stuff happened right in front of me. even all the steelers fans sitting next to me were wandering why are team was so bad at catching the ball. Frerotte made some nice thrwos and looked i think pretty solid tonight except for the one fumble but you know things happen i am sure almost everyone fumbles the ball every so often.

But even if we dumped our QB's and signed Couch I dont think it would make a difference....guys are droping balls and they all seem out of sink. I don't want to say "wait till next year" to sign Leinart or Jacobs but we have to hope that maybe Ronnie Brown and Ricky can carry it 80% of the time, and try to focus on this as our passing game is looking horrible.

our passing game looking horrible? A. Feeley16/209500G. Frerotte7/188700S. Rosenfels4/63801
and this was against one of if not the best defence in the nfl once ronnie and ricky get in there and the reg season starts will be ok i know we played pretty $hitty but every time our qbs got us into pitt side of feild fumble!!!!!!! we are a better team than this morris gordon minor niether will be the starter it will be ricky and ronnie

True I agree.

When you have 2 players that are equal you have to go with the guy who has potential.

Frerotte is maxed out. Feeley has potential to get better and be solid for another 5-6 years. That doesn't mean he will.

That just means that Frerotte is not the future. Feeley doesn't look like it either but he is still relatively young and could be the future for a few years.

If both QB'S are playing equal why wouldn't u go with potential. Frerotte's experience, confidence, knowledge of Linehans system has obviously not served him well.

Hince, this is why I think AJ should start. At this point in their understanding and knowledge of this system, Gus should be kicking AJ's butt. The fact that AJ is this close to Gus, tells me that AJ has the better upside, this is his 3rd O in 3 years and as he learns his play gets better, if he can stay in one O for 2 years for us, we might have a good QB, who just hasn't had a chance to play by instinct because he's still thinking. I would love to see him play after knowing our O for a year. I love his arm..

I think you have to go with AJ considering he plays better in the regular season than training camp.

Feeley outplayed Frerotte in this game by as much as Frerotte outplayed Feeley last week, which is to say not by much. This should bring this competition back to even. I think the media jumped the gun on annointing Frerotte the starter so soon. Neither QB has earned it. But I still think that Saban is more interested in potential at QB than pure stability. This is explains the interest in Couch. Saban does not want to NEED a QB next year.

It was good to see Feeley step up and play better after falling behind in the competition. This is a big step for him in my eyes, because he has seemed to shrivel in the face of competition since we aquired him. He needs to step up this week in practice and in the next game or he is likely doomed to becoming a career backup.

well, you're not going to see AJ being namedthe starter for the season now, not yet. It'll be one more game at least. He still has not gotten the team in scoring range, and has not performed well enough to be just handed something.

Saban's plan of playing the starters longer in the third game just went down the crapper after tonight I think.
I agree AJ won't be named the starter yet, and rightly so, but Gus shouldn't be either. If I had to say which QB played better so far I would have to say AJ (and like I said before I am not a supporter of either just someone who wasnts to see one of them step up). AJ has not looked good by any stretch and like you said he has failed to get the team in scoring range, but it hasn't been all his fault. In game one and tonight he has moved the offense, but because of drops (Thompson in game one and Minor tonight) along with the fumble he has almost been sabatoged. But out of the two his passes have been alot more crisp and for the most part more accurate.

On some other post someone said that Saban praised the hell out AJ. Was making the starter Frerotte this week merely a ploy to get a fire under Feeley? Stay tuned finfans

I watched the game earlier tonight. I'll have to admit that I was certainly disappointed with the overall performance the Dolphins put out tonight, but that's what preseason is for! Hopefully the coaches will spot trouble areas, work them over, and make the team a little bit better prepared for the upcoming regular season.

As for the QB'ing, it's safe to say that Gus and A.J. won't be cut any time soon, especially A.J. It is quite clear that both QB's are at the very minimum, backup QB's, not 3rd stringer material like Sage or Brock. So, whatever happens, the losing QB in this controversy will still remain on the team for the season.

Gus really didn't do a good job tonight. But, even if A.J. started the game, he probably would put out a similar effort. A.J. did surprise me a little bit, when he played against the Pittsburgh's second defensive unit. When he had adequate OL protection, he seemed to be a bit more poised and more accurate. A.J. also made some tough throws, putting some 'zip' on the ball.

Overall, both QB's really didn't stand out from each other in this QB 'battle'. I can only place trust in Saban's judgement in finally selecting a starting QB for the season. I hope that Saban will choose a QB that will help the team to win, not because a QB is experienced, knows the offense, has a stronger arm, has better QB instincts, better presence among teammates, and much more. Just only that if using that particular QB is the best chance for the team to win is the one I want starting on Opening Day.

Enjoy!

lol I am not one to think of those ploys.

BUT Saban is a weird cat man. He probably would do something like that.

I think this is why so many people are getting sick of these debates. Had Frerotte completed the 16 for less than 100, the Feeley supporters would have said the same things a few of us have.

I agree. The supporters on both side seem to be a little narrowminded or biased. Even myself at times.

I think Saban is probably banging his head on the wall right now trying to figure out what to do.

The Gus Frerotte approach to coaching decisions eh?;)

everybody is. Its human nature.....I'm just annoyed at Saban's comments right now in terms of preparation and gameplanning. Honestly, how does he expect them to play 1,000,000 times better in the regular season when they are absolutely getting their azzes handed to them right now?

I don't understand something about why Gus has been considered outplaying AJ up until now. Before camp Gus had the edge because he know the offense better than AJ so should he be outperforming AJ early in camp. The only thing is that other than that INT by AJ both of them have pretty much the same stat during the first two games. I would have expected Gus to play much better than AJ considering he already knows the offense. I am by no means a Feeley guy but I like him better than Gus. Gus hasn't been able to keep the staring job with the five other teams for a reason. I don't really either one of them. AJ lacks to much experience not play much in college or pro's other than last year. Gus will get someone hurt with all these throws over the wr's head. I'd hate to lose Chambers or McMike for the year because he can't get the ball down. I think with either one the fins miss the playoffs this year just because of all the talented teams in the AFC but if I had to choose I'd go with Feeley because of unknown potential with Gus what you see is what you get
