Does Zach Thomas belong in the Pro Football Hall Of Fame?

Like Ray Lewis never got trucked by anybody.

Zach never stabbed anyone to death at the Superbowl....in case the voters take a person's character into effect when voting on the HOF.

well technically RAy never stabbed anyone to death at the superbowl either it was a superbowl party. RAy has no character, hell people around Lakeland know that. Hes popular there because he is from there but he his associations I guarantee you are worse than Desean Jackson's.
Ray is such a hypocrite always blabbing this and that about god and how God would never give glory to someone who did something like that. Many people don't remember that he actually paid settlements to both familes of the victims. Ray knows who stabbed those guys and protected them. All he got was misdemeanor charge of obstructing justice in a damn murder case. He agreed to testify but his testimony hurt nobody and was probably very carefully planned. Im sure it was just accidental that the victims blood was in the Limo lol Not to mention that the suit that Lewis had on that night was somehow never found or the purchased knives. He lied to protect himself and the murder suspect and then testified a whole bunch of nothing that wouldn't convict anybody. One of the fakest people I have ever seen.

Also the people that claim that Thomas made a living off of tackles 3- to 5 yards down field are living in pure mythology and lets just say all his tackles were 3 yards down field that still results in a punt most of the time. Class guy all the way around. I was very ashamed of the Dolphin organization they way they just kicked him aside and signed a lesser player in reggie Torbor to take his place. Zach had repeatedly reworked deals to help the team much like Marino and in the end were both kicked aside for inferior players

He was a tackling machine partially because of the big defensive tackles in front of him allowing him to run free. But he also had such great range and instincts along with film study habits, that he was able to turn that into a tackling clinic every year. Also, in a team sport most great players benefit from teammates and strategy. That's the object of the game.

Will he get in? I don't know, but he sure was a great example of work ethic and effort whether he gets that ultimate form of recognition or not. He gave everything he had to the NFL including his health so it sure would be nice if he got in.

NO. He isn't a hall of fame player. Not even close really

The difference between Ray Lewis and Zach Thomas is that Ray Lewis made game-changing plays, dominated games, and could will his team to win. Zach didn't do any of those things.

Ray Lewis did not will any damn teams to victory. lets quit acting like that defense was just Ray Lewis

Great analysis and contribution.

Do want analysis? Here is some analysis for you. While I like Zack Thomas and think he was a good player, he was also an overrated player, mostly by fans of the Dolphins. I watched every game he played and he was a steady player and a solid tackler, but just about every time the level of competition intensified Zach Thomas wilted. He was limited size wise and athletically. I will never be able to forget the images of him getting "ragdolled" all over the field by Kevin Mawai every time the Dolphins played the Jets, or how the defense led by Zach would get steam rolled in just about every big game they played in. Zach Thomas isn't even the second best middle linebacker in Dolphins' history. John Offerdahl and Nick Buoniconti were both better players than Thomas. So, to summarize, Zach Thomas should be in the Dolphins' ring of honor, but no way should he be in the hall of fame. How is that for a contribution?

Always liked the guy as a person but as a football player he disappeared too many times when the game was on the line, just like JT and the defense in general.

I made these points last year, and got the reaction from the same boobs for my thoughts.

Thomas was good, just not HOF material. Some of those playoff teams wilted on defense like a Penny led team facing a winning team in 08..

I wish there was some way to embue his work ethic on the current team. The Zach Thomas work ethic would have made the difference in three to four games last year.

Oh okay. I guess Ray Lewis didn't change the 2000 AFC Championship game pretty much on his own. Nope. He also wasn't a Super Bowl MVP. Didn't will that team at all. Look, I can't stand Lewis, but don't act like he wasn't a great player. He was.

And Sam Madison. And Patrick Surtain. It boggles my mind as to why so many Fins fans revere those defenses. They did jack squat in big games. Never a big play. Always ****ting the bed in the biggest moments. The 2002 collapse in the last two games against Minnesota and New England summed up that defense. It was a paper tiger and nothing more.

Thank you.

Sat with Sports Illustrated columnist Paul Zimmerman during practice. He's visiting to write his story on the Dolphins. The man most of you may know as Dr. Z is a Hall of Fame voter so I asked him what he thought of Zach Thomas and Jason Taylor's chances of getting into the Hall someday.

Zimmerman said he would vote for Thomas, no doubt, and would even speak on his behalf in the meeting with other voters. Zimmerman said Thomas along with Ray Lewis were the premier linebackers of their time and that is why he is worthy of induction.

Zach Thomas represents everything right about football and the Miami Dolphins.

Judging Zach on one play where he was trucked was flat out stupid. That would be like judging Dan on a single pick.

Saying Zach made his tackles downfield is a flat out lie.

Zach was a great football player. He had the respect of his peers. Ask the Peytons of the world about Zach.
