Dolphin chatter 3/18 from Barry Jackson

so don't draft an OL because Ireland sucked? got it

no. don't draft OL - especially an interior lineman - in the first round. what a waste of a pick. this team doesn't have a #1 wr, rb or te and people want to draft a guard in the first round. then they wonder why we go 7-9 every year.

Very deep draft for o-line and see guy who could be drafted in the 3rd and 4th round who can and will start day 1 for someone.

As far as RB....again, pretty deep as well, but I really like Devonta Freeman out of FSU (I may be a little bias)...

Shaquille Richardson made one of the better defensive plays in all of college football last year...

This one highlight alone shows this kid is football smart.

He also had a pick near the goal line in that game. Led the team in pass breakups as well. Seems like he got snubbed at the combine. Should have been invited.

### One agent said the Dolphins told him they will be looking for a running back in the draft, and they feel they can find one in the mid-rounds if necessary. The top prospects --- all potential second-rounders --- include Ohio State’s Carlos Hyde, Auburn’sTre Mason, Baylor’s Lache Seastrunk and Washington’sBishop Sankey.... ESPN reported that Denver free agent running back Knowshon Moreno would love to join the Dolphins, but it's unclear if the interest is mutual.

The one RB that intrigues me is Franklin Quiteh from Bloomsburg. He played in one of the all star games in Mid Jan & was impressive. He can probably be acquired as a UDFA. Though, Sankey @ 50 is my preference.

Zack Martin continues to make the most sense for Miami at No. 19, but ESPN’s Mel Kiper said Pittsburgh might take him at 15.

Putzburgh needs as much help on the DL IMO. Keisel probably wont be back. Ziggy Hood has signed w/ the Jaguars. Nix to the stealers makes more sense.

If a team's OL sucks (like Miami's) then what good is a #1 WR or TE if they do not have time to run their routes. What good is a RB if he if is tackled in the backfield. Bottom-line the Phinz must fix the OL ASAP (it doesn't matter what round or rounds they do it) anything else is pointless, it's just basic football 101 IMHO. I have no idea why a few people on this site do not see how important having a good OL is and trip-out about not picking OL high in the draft. I blame Capt ball watcher "Dave Hyde" that dipstick has no football IQ and IMHO has poisoned the minds of many Phinz fans against picking offensive lineman high in the draft. Capt ball watcher "Dave Hyde" says since they do not score TD's then you should not draft OL high......but Capt ball watcher just doesn't understand that if the OL sucks chips your play makers can not make plays (or score) period. Last year's Phinz OL was simply AWFUL.

you fix what the problem was last season first, the linebackers on this team are still young so they can invest later in the draft for one.

Zac Martin and Tre Mason 1 and 2. Then fill in more OL, LB and a big WR

I want no part of carlos hype or jeremy hill. Tre Mason is the back we need, Seastrunk another one we should look at if Mason doesn't work out.

I am disappointed they have stopped "kicking the tires" of free agents. Still more work to be done after a nice start.

As far as o-linemen part of me wonder's if possibly they feel the players that are out there won't be a much better fit to the ZBS than who is already on the roster. I know you are high on Garner and I don't think Brenner was horrible last year, so perhaps the staff feels the same way.

ALL ABOARD THE SUPERBOWL TRAIN!!!

I would love to get Mason but picking in the back part of the second round he may be gone unless we move up to get him. Probably the first or second RB picked.
Charles Sims from WV will probably be there in the 4th round and would be a good pick as well.

I don't know anything about Sims but i really like Mason. The most important thing is finding a back that can play every down. That means can pass protect, catch and run for short yardage. I understand the league is not an every down RB league anymore but that makes you predictable if you know one back sucks in short yardage or can't protect the qb

yes, the OL was one of the worst in the nfl last year. so bad, that imo pretty much any turnover will substantially improve it. but you guys want to overreact and dump a ton of resources into it like that will make our offensive woes go away.

if we draft OL in the first round we will have 3 former first round linemen and our highest skill position player will be 3rd rounder mike wallace. i would trade 3 first round OL for a first round talent at WR, RB and TE in a heartbeat. the OL can be comprised of quality FA pickups and mid round picks. let that be the unit to overachieve, where 40 time and ball skills do not matter.
