Dolphin "Classic" Games Part 8

This game has to be my all time favorite Marino game I went nuts on the 4th down bomb to fryar.

Since some of those dvds' picture are not in top of shape, when viewing it on television. Can I use some programs to clean it up and make it sharper and clearer? Just asking because the size of file doesn't matter to me as I just got double layer dvd burner....

It would be hard to get the images to look much better. One issue I've noticed is that some of the newbies to 'dvd' standards are a little loose with the terminology: Just because a file is converted into a dvd-readable format does not make it dvd quality...2 hrs of decent video takes up about 5-6gb. No way around that unless you start reducing the quality.

Some of these files have been encoded from VHS video (& 10 years old at that), creating huge digital files, reduced in size (ie, information is removed), then re-encoded. Once the information is gone it is gone. Also, 'DVD format' means that the image is 720 x 480 pixels, 29.97 fps (we're talking NTSC here, not PAL). Other formats (like DIVX, etc) sometimes use a smaller image. You'll really never get a 'better' image trying to increase the image size or number of pixels in an existing image. It may look a little better if you try some tricks to reduce the artifacting (blockiness) or color levels, but you're pretty much stuck with what you've got.

So, a tip for all of you encoders : Create your source files as large and as High Quality as you can, then reduce as little as possible to fit your needs. If you can, keep a copy of the original...

can we get the 12/30/00 playoff game vs Indy up as a torrent? that is one of the better games in team history, IMO, and Lamar Smith just went wild! it is also our LAST playoff win!
 
Just wanted to give you a heads up Crunch that I'm having disk problems so I may not be helping for a few days.
 
I feel for everyone that missed some of these great games, but I think we should keep the priority on the new torrents and when we've exhausted all the new ones, we should go back and recycle them... Especially w/ the BW and site problems we've had...

Just a thought...

For instance, the new Pats 39-35 game is "352x480". Enlarging it to proper DVD format will degrade the image a bit for those of us wanting to watch it on TV...
