Dolphins blew it with passing on Herbert

I think that if we can give him one more second per play... he may emerge.

But that is apt to be next year. We'll need a RT and a running game to slow down the blitzing.
That's why there is no way we draft another qb first round. We have to try and get him some help. Atleast a running game

When does this ****ty thread get moved to the General section? I’m sick of seeing it in the main Dolphins section.
Good point, not to be a PITA but Justin Herbert isn’t any more Dolphins related than news about a division rival and those threads are always moved to a different forum to die.

I know its early to access them but... you can do an eye test.

Herbert is a tall athletic strong armed playmaker. He looks like he belongs and can be a great QB than can win games and not just manage them.

Tua is a soft arm, small, non athletic accurate passer that was surrounded with talent at Alabama. He is a game manager/scheme QB at best.

As far as relievers not getting open, its half Tuas fault. He throws a softer ball which takes longer to get to the receiver. This results in DBs getting to the ball and everything is going to be contested.

I'm welcome to criticism, but please back it up with facts and not emotions.
Herbert looks the part / more NFL-ready / polished product than Tua but that doesn’t mean he’s a better QB or will be a better QB. It’s way too early. For the record I do think Herbert, Tua and Burrow are all going to have nice careers. Burrow had the first tough break but he’s young and will bounce back. Albeit he may not be as mobile.

Building a consistent run game via more OL performance + RB is always a good thing for a QB.

Point is, IMO, there are very few (actually, there are NO) QBs who can carry a team on their own.

The fact we have "deficiencies" on O only puts more pressure on the QB to be "the man."

That said, I agree with the incessant chorus (kind of annoying) that Tua needs more help.

I'm just not 100% where the priority is -- OL? RB? WR? TE?

I still look at OL as the most fundamental and most impactful game to game.

Imagine the kid having all day in the pocket?

Imagine the RBs having legit holes consistently?

That **** pays dividends unendingly.

>>> but I must add -- building a truly excellent OL in today's NFL is very difficult <<<

Herbert. Tua
QBR 72. 61.1
AVG 7.7. 6.2
YPG 299. 150
TDPG 2.4. 1.5
INTPG 0.66. 0

Herbert also has 3 rushing TDs vs 0 for Tua. Tua’s longest pass is 35 yards, Herbert’s is 72. In Herberts first 2 games he passed for more yards than Tua has in 4 games. In 9 games, Herbert has thrown for more than 300 yards in 5 of those. Herbert also has 5 games with 3 or more TD passes.

Herbert is clearly the best QB in this draft. Burrow might have been but he’s career ended when he was drafted by Cinci.

sorry RH but being a fanboy isn’t cool. It’s how you remind a loser. We have an outstanding coach. Flo is the best coach we have had since Shula. Tua isn’t the answer unfortunately.

He asked you if you've actually seen any of the Chargers games this season, and pointed out key moments in certain games to prove his point.

You responded with more stats. 😂

I think it's safe to assume that the majority of posters in this thread have seen very little Chargers football this year. I've seen a few of their games, and have seen their fans on Reddit blame him for multiple losses. However, box score warriors are undefeated so this is going nowhere.

I’ve only seen a few and in each one his picks have been back breakers. He had a great game vs the Jets though.

The one Vs us was bad. Despite being outplayed, because I never felt the Chargers game was as close as the score indicated, he had a shot to take the lead and threw the pick to Howard.

The Denver one was worse, someone can correct me if I’m wrong but they were in FG range and an FG would have iced the game. Herbert threw a jump ball to Mike Williams that was picked. This spearheaded the Broncos 3 point win. Herbert has been good but you need context. You just can’t quote his stats.

I live in LA so I have seen a ton of his games. But all I get are stats spewed back instead or actual game play

Tua’s not athletic and has a small arm? Have you seen him run and pass? Nope.
